ANybody ever play?

My fiance's normal gamer buddies came over minus a few last nifght, so instead of playing the usual, they played this. I joined in and it was my first gamer experience, and it lasted about 4 hours and we had to call the game because it was late in the am.

no one in my "real life" plays these things, and i wanted to see if anyone else ever played. and is it wrong that the entire time, almost everything that was stated as an encounter or attack sounded sexual?

nope! way before batman...made in the twenties from what i understand and they keep reissuing it

Well, its based on Lovecraft, the game itself was originally published in the 80s, its related to the Call Of Cthulhu RPG.

as far as it being sexual, I couldn't say. However, horror is often very visceral, primal, physical.
I often use those words to describe sex.

dude, theres a whore, a nun,...i felt weird to be turned on by the horrific nerdiness of it all...

Lovecraftian

Lovecraft mythos usually = tentacles in the minds of most people. There is a deep psychological horror element that could probably work pretty well if you combined a kind of mind-control element (as the investigator discovers more he/she becomes more insane - per the lovecraft formula - bu that insanity manifests itself in fetishism, nymphomania, or just erotic mind-control. Is that completely off-topic?

Most people equate "Lovecraftian with strange bat-winged creatures with tentacles, but there is a god deal more to his work. His main motion was that man is a speck in a great swirling void, and if we truly comes to terms with that we will lose our minds.
I always have the feeling that Lovecraft was deeply affected by the Shakespearean line "There are more things in Heaven and earth."
Was never fortunate enough to play any of the RPG's based on his stories though. Bet that it would be fun.

I don't need to "admit" anything. I love boardgames, and Arkham Horror is pretty good. Though honestly fairly easy.

A very similar game which is also great, but pits players against each other which makes it more fun is the Battlestar Galactica board game. Even if you don't really like battlestar, it's a pretty good game.

If that's not complicated enough for you, try "Here I stand" Very fun, but has a 63 page rule book.
