Possibly because you glommed that while looking up mario lanza on Utube I couldn't resist finding a couple of Robin Trower memories too.

I know from Mario Lanza. My dad had him on vinyl. The thick vinyl that came in colors, like burgundy-red.

"When A Man Loves A Woman"

Whose recording puts all others to shame?

I've spoken to my consultants and we are agreed: Percy Sledge.

On "Dock of the Bay," however, Percy must bow to Otis Redding.

I agree with your consulants.

("When a Man Loves a Woman" was the song my new husband and I danced to at our wedding)

"When a Man Loves a Woman" is one of my favorite songs, but I sometimes think that the Interpretation Police will track me down and arrest me for the reason. It's the opening track / background in "The Crying Game." ;) The movie closes with another great choice - "Stand By Your Man."

Weeeoooo weeeeeeoooo weeeeeooooo –

Pull over horsey, this is the interpretation police.

I think we are going to start with the strip search…..so remove the harness.

Hell, yeah.

Scared me there for a minute. However, I still prefer the Dusty Springfield version. [I collect 50's 60's music.]

Clearly, I need to go find this. Sorry for the assorted heart attacks the thread title engendered. I have never regretted the inability to edit a thread title nearly so much.

Aretha's "Son of a Preacher Man" inspired me to write a filthy pornographic story. :)

What greater tribute can there be?

(Which one which one?!)

After that you're screwed.

I wish someone would have told me it was that easy. All those wasted nights chatting up girls who did not turn out to have an old fat fart fettish... (Sorry for the temporary threadjack... I am just trying to stalk sarahh..)

Sigh...

but Yeah! Damn! As if my life is not replete enough with the daily news horrors, you scared the hell outa me... Aretha Franklin.... I have not but R-E-S-P-E-C-T for the lady...

Of course I like Flogging Molly too so my taste is clearly not to be trusted...

I'm guessing it was about a son of a preacher, who teaches you stuff.

It's adrift in my hard drive somewhere, never to be seen again.

It's like you could read my mind, Joe. Uncanny. How do you do it?
