Area 88 OOC and casting call

Story premise: It is 1983, and the Vietnam War has been over for 6 years, but in the middle-east, there is a civil war raging. In the kingdom of Asran, a group of mercenary pilots launch from a hidden airbase in the desert to tackle those whom they are paid to kill.

Area 88 is known to most military organisations, yet it's actual location is kept a secret. Mercenary pilots from all over the world gravitate towards it for various reasons, none of which are frowned apon by the base's commander, one Saki Vashtal. However, the thing about Area 88 is that it's much harder to leave than it is to get in. Everyone who joins has three ways out

1: Earn $1.5 million in kills and successful missions. Quite difficult, as the payment depends apon the target's skill

2: Serve your 3 year contract. Again, quite difficult. Almost dayly sorties and dogfights mean that most pilots have to be extremely luck to survive one year, let alone 3

3: Feet first. Yes. They only other way out is death. And the mercenaries live with the knowledge that, unless they can complete one of the first two, then number 3 is what they have to look forward to. Even dessertion isn't an option, as stray too far, and your mercenary friends soon become your worst enemies, assigned to shoot you down.

Still, men and women come to do battle in the skies of the war-torn kingdon of Asran.

Ok, well now that bit is over with, who would be interested in this? All I ask for is a basic character description, and what type of fighter they pilot. Heck, doesn't even have to be a fighter! Bombers and recon planes are available too! And let your imagination go wild, as the 88'ers come from all countries and all nationalities, not to mention all kinds of pasts...

does the fighter have to correspond to the pilots country of origin?, im not overly familiar with aircraft.
 
Jet fighter can be anything. It could be one that the pilot owned before arriving at area 88, or it could be one that they were supplied with apon arival - so long as they could afford it, that is
 
How about Helicopters? there so some cool gunships and rescue choppers out there...
 
should we give them call-names as well (i.e. maverick, ice-man etc.) as well as regular names?

Feel free to use a copter, Jagged. Just keep in mind that if you went into a combat mission, you probably wouldn't be able to keep up with the rest
 
This sounds fun if it is still open Area 88 is one of my favorite anime's so if it still open here is the character that I will play

Call Sign: Deamon God
Nationallity: Syracuse, Italy
Personallity: Calm and composed
Mental Traits, concerning battle: Extremely focused and able to read his opponents moves before they make them, becomming a Deamon of Death.
Jet: F-18A Hornet
Emblem: A Red demon fighting a fierce Angel against a black an white back round
Reason: He lives to fly in the sky, living between life and death, taking life indescriminately and contemplateing his own death. His only goal is to find the pilot that can fight with him and have a chance. He will never leave Area 88 until he dies or shoots down the rival he has yet to find. At that time there will be no more reason to fight and as his skill has already landed him the money needed to leave Area 88, he will retire to his home land in Syracuse.

Reason: Originally a British naval pilot, Robert was trained to fly, and wanted nothing more than to do so. However, he found he was being assigned more and more to carrier missions where he was called on to fly less and less. He found out about area 88 and immediatly signed on so he could do what he loves doing best.

Ok! Now, I think that characters such as Saki and McCoy (the bases arms dealer) should be NPCs to start with, so that if you can come up with a mission or storyline to run, you can take immediate control. Of course, if laer on someone wants to take control of one or both) of these, they can

Personality: Quiet, in and out of the cockpit. Single minded to a fault. Loner.

Mental Traits concerning battle: like a pit bull. Just keeps coming and coming. Gives no quarter and expects none.
Jet: F4 Phantom, retrofitted with a 20mm chain gun.
Emblem: Black star outlined in gold
Reason : able to fly better jets and get paid in actual money.
