Just wondering how many people are doing/living where they thought or planned?
Is your job the one you studied for?
Are you living the life you imagined?

I always thought I'd stay in the marine industry, but here I am at 45, living on a farm.
Not what I had planned. In fact, pretty much nothing in my life is what I imagined.
Not that I am miserable about that..... it is a good life.
I just never saw this outcome.

How about you?

Content, though life is very different from how I might have envisaged it.

I hate myself for what I have become. If the little kid version of me could see me now he'd be so pissed off. And it would be completely justified.

I did all that I planned to do, back when I was 18. So in one sense I'm a winner but I expected it to be different, better, enjoyable...and it wasn't. I woulda been happier farming.

Is anyone really where they imagined they would be? I'm certainly not. Not to say I don't have an amazing life because I do. But could I have pictured it? Even my imagination has its limits.

I am happy on the farm. Bonus is I am doing so much these days that I'm in the best physical shape ever :)
I just never imagined being here!

I think I know what you mean. Is your life how you thought it would be.

Yes and no. I wanted to be a doctor. I was on track actually, won a scholarship. Stuff happened and I didn't go. Got engaged and bought my first property when I was 18. Now... Yeah, I guess I've always known I would do ok.

No. I never thought I'd be so far removed, yet it's been a good journey.

i guess you could say my job is the one i've studied for.
i honestly didn't imagine living this long. it's not a bad life. a life. it's mine. there's really no telling what it will be like in five or ten years. i always have multiple drafts worked out in my head. normally, something completely different happens, but i've done enough drafts to know the ground work of what needs to be done.

Absurdly, I'm way ahead of where I thought I'd be, professionally and personally.

Win.

Nah, but I can still do plenty of damage in the time I have left.

All of the above.

There are some things in my life that I wanted to do before I turned 30 and I have, and there are some things that I wanted to do that I haven't done yet, and I'm nearly 30 already. So, I am ahead in some things, behind in others.

Life has a funny way of handing you unexpected roadblocks that tends to slow us down sometimes. I wouldn't trade my experiences for anything, though, because even though hardship and struggle is difficult, it's also character building and gives us the ability to appreciate good times, and it makes us who we are.

i decided i was going to be a navy lifer when i was in the 7th grade. did 4 years of hs rotc. asvab'd and signed before i graduated. id have signed for 20 that first day if they would have let me. turns out there are good reasons they dont let 18 year olds sign for 20 off the bat... did 10 got out as an E6.

now i work in a dying plant in my home town. mrs, kid, dogs... the whole 9.

by my original plans, id expect to be in singapore or something nearly ready to retire...

im about half a hair from dropping a resume at another plant and jumping off this sinking ship...

I thought i would have graduated from college but it wasnt to be.
