LA County reinstated a mask mandate. I estimate roughly 70% of grocery store shoppers are complying. Many of those not complying are seniors. They either didn’t get the memo from the County, or listened to what Biden told them.

Masks are still a good idea, regardless of any mandates. Im fact, now would be a good moment for the government to ship every household a batch of masks, like the Trump admin wanted to do until Trump nixed it.

It might be. The Delta variant only surfaced on December 2020. There’s a lot that isn’t known yet.

No. You are just as effective a carrier as the unvaccinated. You probably do not need another vaccine yet, trials re the Delta variant are not complete. The initial results seem to suggest that the much maligned Astra Zenica jab may achieve better results against Delta than the MRNA jabs (Pfizer and Moderna). But too early to make definitive conclusions.

you may still contract it in a breakthrough infection but not likely to feel ill from it, but if it's the delta variant then, yes, you can still pass on the infection even if you are asymptomatic according to the latest data. It's to do with the viral load: the delta variant shows that--in breakthrough infections--you'd be harbouring as much of a viral load as the unvaccinated person. Vaccinated people with high comorbidities are less protected from getting sick than those without, but ALL of the vaccinated are less vulnerable than the unvaxxed... we're being asked to mask up again to protect not only the selfish and deluded, but those most at risk: those with weakened immune systems, those battling cancer, those advised medically NOT to get the vaccine and those unable to get it yet, the children under 12.
go by the infection rates and predominant variant in your area... if there's a high infection rate (and a low immunisation rate needs to be taken into account since these people are also less likely to be taking tests for positivity), best mask up again in any areas where you're encountering a lot of people.
we're masking up at walmart and other stores, plus his mum is at church (i think, i hope)
