I think pride is a good thing. Too much is obviously bad and too little or none is really bad.

I just get the impression I am surrounded by people that have no or very little pride. I make this determination judging their determination.

Having pride and taking pride is not an easy thing to do because it can be lost in the blink of an eye, and you become....one of them.

Us. Them. Humans....most humans absolutely need a group of humans to survive. To feed off. To confirm their existence. I get it. Humans being are a pack animal.

But the individual to me seems like the axiom of the group and with out pride on an individual scale the group as a whole can fail.

Maybe theres levels of pride I am unaware of, being an individual.

I knows theres drugs, blinders, denial and stupidity to mask ones failed attempt at humanity and being proud.

The moral of the story is. Take your fucking god damned garbage cans in when they pick the shit up you hillbilly dumb cunt. I dont want to see them sit there all fucking week!

I am. Not that I've cured cancer, but that I've done my best with my resources to create what modest success I've experienced. It's relative.

Did I do today the best that I could, even it meant not murdering someone, and maybe especially that?

Yeah.

I'm not measured against others, because that's apples to oranges. It's not about did I do better than last year either, because disaster and misfortune strikes.

Did I do the best I could with my disaster and misfortune as well as my windfalls and bonuses?

Yeah. I can take pride in that.

Do I try to notice when I didn't do my best and try to do better next time? Yeah.

i'm proud of myself for lots of reasons.
that doesn't mean i care whether my neighbours will approve of how long the bin is left out for.

Offer to take her trash cans in for her.

I've done it many times. That's not the point. I also asked my homies at the city about it and they hate that shit too but can't do anything, apparently theres no rule about it or it's not clear.

As I sit here and look out my window at the other neighbor theres a queen sized used dirty mattress leaned up against the side of the house. Been there for two weeks.

I live on a corner lot.

This weekend....probably 3000 people will walk past my home and see this crap.

It's our fall festival weekend and I am almost in the middle of it.

No lawn cut, leaves everywhere, junk, trash cans, dirty cars, dirty yards, homes, pussies, dicks, brains and mostly futures.

None...and I mean None of these people have one.

Fucking bums I say.

Where on the list of The Seven Deadly Sins does pride fall, anyway?

I'm a bit of a sadist, I always look for reasons to feel bad about myself.

My ego is not bound up with some forum ID if that's what you mean, that would be ridiculous and sad.

As for what I've done in reality, more than most, less than others, always can be better. Only braggarts brag, and usually about nothing.

Yeah but who leaves the trash bin in the road all week. Thats bullshit. Theres a dozen people around here that do it too.

I dunno. I'm just ranting. It's a big weekend with a lot of out of towners coming to town for our huge yearly festival and I work hard keeping my place presentable and clean. Just wish others cared or gave a damn is all.

Renters?

I'd tell you to steal her trash cans, but then she would just stack her trash bags on the lawn throughout the whole week.

At least the onlookers will walk past your house and find it to be a refreshing change from the trashy surroundings.

My nickname is "Kid Ego" I almost got it as a license plate.

Pride can be obtained by just doing your part. You don't have to have great accomplishments.

To a cripple, getting out of bed and washing their face and being able to make breakfast makes them proud.

But everyone should bring their fucking bins in. Even that cripple.

Fuck yes renters. My whole neighborhood is mostly renters and getting worse by the year. If they aren't renters they are low income nice people with ...no pride.

But see....I rented until I was 40 years old. I always kept my place clean and presentable.

Pride aint something you rent.

Thank you. They do. Last year I heard some ladies say they thought my lawn was fake. lol

eh....ugh

I've seen you take shit for what you do for a living and shrug and say it needs to be done and it needs to be done well.

I agree. Whatever it is you choose to do, do it right. It adds up. You learn to do the trivial stuff right and the harder stuff comes easier.

But if you permanently decide that the little stuff doesn't deserve your attention, then you can't handle the big stuff either.

sure, i have pride; yet part of my integrity or my ethos is to never let that pride balloon up in any way. it's very much an introspective thing to me. er, i am proud of my record collection!

Besides the fact that what they say I do...I don't do but if I did I'd be proud.

It's just little things I notice.

Almost like little things one takes note of when entertaining a new BF or GF or dating.

Whats important to you.

Does he wash his car? Keep his house tidy? The bathroom....the BATHROOM.

Teeth hair nails bedsheets, garbage cans.

See?

i don't give a shit whether next door have a tidy garden. i give a shit whether they treat their kids well, are polite and helpful to the elderly, would help someone who collapsed in the street.

there are people with perfect homes who beat their wives, defraud their employers and don't care who they hurt.

what you seem most bothered about is just top show.

Yup. This stuff matters. Do they speak to wait staff with patience and courtesy or are they rude and bad tippers? Do they think that manual labor is beneath them? Are the dishes and cleaning the bathroom always "someone else's problem?"

Do they just want to get to where they have the cushy job so they can relax and not be expected to be productive again because of their status and abuse those "beneath" them on the social spectrum, or do they value the productivity for its own sake.

Lawn maintenance can be overwhelming for some. During this summer, I pulled all the weeds behind the house, sprayed them and left a clean area. I look back there after all the stupid rain we got, and it looks like a damned jungle again. The lawnmower went to shit, started smoking so badly that the neighbors thought my house had caught on fire.

I always bring in my trash cans, though. Someone might steal them if I didn't.

Oh all that shit bothers me to Dolf. Don't get me started.

I feel bad for all the young people in this neighborhood because they are not getting the direction or motivations they need to get the flock out of this town.

Bunch low educated low income baby making obamaphone wic card junkies.

And theres a whole batch of young kids following in those footsteps.

Ugh

and dolf. I always figured you lived in a cute tidy little english cottage like place surrounded by a white picket fence with a ton of flowers.

DONT correct me if I am wrong.

I'm satisfied I did my duty as it needed to be done.

Looking back over 65 years I devoutly wish I had acted 65 when I was 16 and 18 and 20.

I did save 3 people from certain death.

I served in the military for 4 years with an honorable discharge.

I have no criminal record.

I have 4 kids and 10 grandkids. None of them are too damaged.

I take good care of my dogs.
