Janettt, is there some reason you can't just come out and ask the question in the title?
Being male, the life of a professional Dominatrix has never been open to me. Although I think I'd hate to do any kind of sex for a living. Similarly why I don't get into theatre or music professionally -- I enjoy them as hobbies, as a break from my work.

i hear the pros, if they're good, build a distinct customer list and make lots of moolah.
From what i've read and after talking to a few Dominants, it's my understanding that being a "pro" is somewhat frowned upon and eschewed by "purists" who believe accepting money for practicing BDSM is ... gasp ... immoral.
No really, to each its own. If it makes you happy (emotionally or monetary-wise) then good luck.
