I think you will find that I have voted on what catagories I read.I don't read all the catagories you see so I don't think my vote or should I say Nomination, would be very fair.

Juliangel, if you have read one story on this site, and you really liked it, then you are qualified to nominate it. It's not about having read every story on the site, it's just about recognizing stories that get your blood flowing. Every reader is qualified if they read a story that they like. Everyone's nomination counts, and is wanted.. so go nominate.. don't hold back...

hsWriter, I know I will take a bit of heat for this post. Not a problem, I'm just trying to get everyone in gear before it is to late. Just read some of the posts from writers begging for feedback from the members. It's not a difficult thing I/we ask. Just a little nomination for an aspiring author.

I for one appreciate all the hard work that the writers put in. There is some work over there that is Fucking Fantastic to say the least.

I have even printed off some of the stories and shared them with a friend that doesn't have a computer and she loves them too.

Juliangel, remember this nomination process goes back all the way to January 1999. Even if you read only one story and like it; nominate it.

Can you explain how nominating will keep this web page going?

I'm not going to nominate. I'm not qualified. I haven't read many of the stories, and I certainly haven't read enough to make a judgement. I've liked this story, or that, but how can I tell if it's better than the 97% of the stories I haven't read?

I could go there right now and skim some stories, pick some titles, make some nominations. I won't. I think the writers deserve better. I think they deserve an honest evaluation from people who read their work.
That's not me. And it probably isn't many of the names on your list.

r Nitelight stop and think about his web page for a moment; many, many people visit just to read the stories and look around. Check the number of guest visiting right now on the forum. Nominating gives writers feedback that they are craving. If you do not understand that please go read the nominations thread and read what writers like Whisper Secret and Madam Pandora have posted. By nominating a story it demonstrates that the readers do have interest in the product this web site provides. By doing so I would bet that next years crop of stories will be better and bigger. Now don't you think that makes a difference to the site? Do not fall into the idea that the web site is just this forum. Ask Laurel for the numbers of people reading the works posted here.

the nominations are not about a panel of judges whom are all qualified, but about the story you read, even if it was only one in Jan/99, that you liked. It has been discussed that the nominations be done by a group of selected members, but the idea was not endorsed by many and definitely will not happen this year.

R Nitelight, I'm also not trying to piss you off here, just get members to pick a few stories. Nothing to hard. Give it try, you might pick a winner.

Wow Fred.. a while ago you were dissing the awards.. I can say that this is an odd, but pleasurable surprise... Oh, and Nite... don't dig too deep into the meanings of these awards.. They are just so that we can recognize those stories that we loved, and that made an impact on us enough to make us read it over and over. Think of when you vote on a story, you don't give it a 5 because it is better than 4/5 of the other stories in it's category, you give it a five because it is a good story. If we had to take every story into consideration to nominate the best, then very few people would be qualified.. maybe even no one.. (well, except for Laurel)

IT WILL MAKE LAUREL VERY HAPPY TO HAVE A FLOOD OF NOMINATED STORIES.

HSWriter, not the awards, the process. I have always liked the idea of the awards and started by reviewing many of the last year's awards.

My main concern was that 3/4 of a year voting went west and there is no way that it can be duplicated. Many very good stories are not being nominated (and no I do not have one story on this site).
