Here is one of my favorites it used to be shareware, its now pure bred freeware, it also has a level editor, and its own community of those who like to create more games for it with the eidtor.

and its name so appropriate for a erotica site like literotica:

DINK SMALLWOOD: http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~dink/index.shtml

~~~~~
Another Favorite now release as Freeware, an awesome long place multi chapter this one put out by Sierra.
BETRAYAL AT KRONDOR: http://gamehippo.com/search/search_title_1_6c06706c25ccdb0355b0ad7167303c4c.shtml
Another new favorite that continues to have more added to it as it grows. Very nonlineariy mini quest stlye rpg. Also another freeware game.
DARK DISCIPLES: http://www.darkdisciples-rpg.com/
What games do you recommend
I was into RPG's back in the Apple II days when they were text only, and D&D in the 70's.
Now I prefer graphics. But I still like them.
hey storm long time no type ^ 5's
I remeber the text based games of the mid 80's
I like these new graphic based ones, and the fact they are free is even more fun
I haven't missed purchasing many RPG's since the C-64 days. Of course, RPG is a very loose term. But going on the traditional definition, I am an RPG nut.
I also have the entire collection of manuals from the original D&D, AD&D, and AD&D: SE. I also have over 800 modules, and used to have a collection of close to 5,000 miniatures.
I haven't played pencil and paper AD&D in years, but now that we are living back home now, we plan to get a group of friends going.
I had the first Ultima...
Iyolo the Bard sings: "Oh, Eyoh, He, Hum"
It was cool...
Oddly enough, after about eight years of reading D&D manuels and playing the CRPG, I might be actually playing a pnp soon.
Good CRPGs?
BGI&II
Morrowind
Planescape: Torment
Dues Ex
While I love CRPGs, they've become so combat based they've lost most of their appeal. I love Diablo and it's ilk, but not when I want to do some roleplaying. Right now I'm playing Syberia, which is an Adventure game, and it's so much more enjoyable than, say, NwN.
Good choices....Planescape: Torment is my favorite of the bunch. Morrowind is loaded with detail, sometimes it feels like too much detail was added.
Icewind Dale was very good also.
As for the Ultima games, VII was the best. One of the best of all time.
Torment is one of my favorite RPGs, I always wondered why they never made a sequel.
Morrowind had a lot of thing happening in it, it was too easy to get sidetracked at times. I don't think they had enough details, however. All the NPCs seemed the same and while it had great breadth, it felt almost shallow at times. An expansion is, supposedly, coming out in November which will beef up the main plot and add more land.
Fallout 2 was good as well.
I'll second that as well. Do you know what game the Fallout series were sequels to (or at least, based on)?
I love RPGs both book and video game ones. I play D&D nd I am currentlyu learning how to run my own game of Shadowrun.
Are you enjoying NwN lovetoread?
Bob, I didn't think the Fallout series was based on anything but the imaginations of the creators. Was I incorrect?
NWN is going well.
But it has not hooked me.
I keep hoping that soon the addiction to play will come upon me,but it hasnt yet.
Well, I'm not sure if it was a direct sequel of, or based loosely on the game Wasteland...also an Interplay game.
IMO, NWN is a very good game. But nowhere near as good as it was hyped to be, and it didn't contain quite as many features as they had planned. But aside from that, NWN has a great story, and is very good for pnp people who want to play over great distance with their friends...on the PC of course.
How far into the game are you?
NWN doesn't really pick up until mid-way through Chapter 2.
