Are you in a rut?

No rut over here. I vowed to myself I would end up like one of those sixty year olds that dress the same everyday and do everything the same way, everyday...

...so aside from school, all my decisions are spontaneous

Every day is the same old shit. Get up, steal the fruit from the celestial garden, go lay down again.

I once took a Full Body Massage class to break out of a rut. Problem is, I don't have enough closeby friends to practice on...

long story short, trying something new can definitely squash a rut from time to time!

I can't suggest remedies for someone else. I am going to go to an art class that starts in a couple weeks. My first step out of my rut was going back to school and getting a new career. That helped in more ways than I ever thought.

you could always take up wood working

Even though I'm in the same rut, you speak of, I try to do little things everyday to make each day different. Talk about new experiences, talk about new challenges, talk to new people.

Do you do the same things every day?...over and over...get up...go to work/school...go home...eat...go to bed...and again the next day.

Do you entertain yourself the same way every day? I think we are all guilty of posting here. <wry smile>

Have you ever wondered how to get out of your rut? Do you even want to?

I'm not in a rut...I do things differently every day. Today when I came to Lit I even typed left handed.

Hell yes I'm in a bit of a rut, I'm a single dad raising two kids and it goes with the territory a bit. For now, I take my doses of fun in small safe bit's.

Rut to the big game hunters has a quite different meaning.

And yes, I am in a rut. :)

I was pulled out of my little tiny rut a few nights ago when someone kinda made me talk on the phone for a couple hours. I'm not much of a phone person.

Only if you can call 4 years of sing the same thing over and over a rut?

Well then I guess that would be a yes.

I'm with BKnight.
While my daily activities don't vary by a considerable degree, I try to keep my mind active and see the daily things in a fresh and new way. When my co-workers chuckle, or groan at my observations I know I've been successful. When the customers - at job #2, smile or stack the line at my register doubly longer than any other register just because they want to be in my line, then I know I've been successful.
And recently, there's been some input from an individual that has helped me jump the rut for a brief period of time on a regular basis.

Unfortunately yes, but I'm trying to break free.
Talking computer class now and maybe some language courses later.

I was in a rut. To change that, I changed things in every part of my life. I changed my schedule (I wake up in the morning now!), I rearranged my desk, I quit posting to threads I always post to, and I started on three new projects.

Oh, and I changed my breakfast cereal.

Heck, I got out of a rut when I STARTED posting here.

And eating breakfast.

My desk doesn't need rearranging. It's perfectly chaotic.

Schedule? What schedule? We supposed to do that? Damn I hate that part.
