From 'The Times' Friday January 21, page 28:

Sex-line cheat

Men who rang a £1-a-minute sex line to talk to Filipinas grew wary when the girls used slang such as "Ey-up" and "Me Duck" and alerted Trading Standards. Andrew Vanderahe, 41, who ran the line was fined £65 by Nottingham magistrates and told to pay £1,000 costs for describing 40 Nottingham women as Filipinas.

That's just wrong . . . on SO many levels.

I'm quite impressed that someone would have the courage to file a complaint that they were cheated in their sex chat! :D

Why not? They were Englishmen. Why shouldn't they expect value for money?

We exported most of our Puritans to the Americas.

They went to a colony.

Why not move to another one?

South Georgia has some space. It doesn't have much else going for it. The Falkland Islands are sub-tropical by comparison.

Anybody in the USA remember the Psychic Hot-Line that advertised on late-night cable? The proprietor was fined for misleading advertising after some of her customers complained.

Sure, fraud can be a bad thing. But if there must be fraud, it would be nice if the victims could be limited to a couple of groups: men who want their phone-sex partners vulnerable and probably underaged, like the girls who so famously inhabit whorehouses in the Philipines; and people who call TV psychics expecting to learn the future.

I put in my complaint before the adverts were shown...

He'd better be. I paid him US$20 for the six winning numbers in this week's Florida Lottery, and if I'm not richer by $5 million on Monday morning, I'm going to the police.

I wish I had said that!

Well, we will know in a few more hours: by the way, I'm predicting tomorrow will be sunny in Florida.
