Are you the same person you were 5, 10, 15 years ago, or are you still growing and changing? Are you striving to be a better person? Have your values changed as your experiences have grown? Do you thirst for new knowledge? Are you still willing to try new things?

I've always been of the opinion that still water has a tendency to become stagnant. Some people put more value of constancy.

Thoughts?

Repetition gets old fast in my opinion. I’m certainly not the same person today that I once was.

The old saying: the more things change, the more they remain the same carries a lot of weight. So we can choose to either move at the speed of life or the speed of business, but the whole key is to move forward.

You do grave disservice to the word 'evolving.'

I think you mean growing and learning.

I'm devolving. I'll be back to a puddle of goo soon.

Still growing and changing.

Are you striving to be a better person?

In some ways, in others I'm comfortable where I'm at.

Have your values changed as your experiences have grown?

Absolutely.

Do you thirst for new knowledge?

Yes, but I'm more focused/specific with my pursuits.

I suppose knowing what you want comes with age.

Are you still willing to try new things?

That's actually died down from when I was in my early 20's.

I'm still willing I'm just pickier about it than I used to be.

I think adventure and constancy both have their benefits and disadvantages.

Some things are worth making a habit out of, others not so much.

People don't change.

If you were an asshole when you were 25, you'll be an asshole when your 55.

Some personality traits are double-edged swords.

With application of good judgment and common sense, stubbornness and persistence are valuable. In a wide variety of fields, great and valuable accomplishments have been achieved through dogged persistence.

Without good judgment and common sense, stubbornness and persistence can be highly dysfunctional.

I will readily stipulate that, on occasion, it can be very difficult to differentiate between healthy stubbornness and an unhealthy obsession.

In many respects I am the same person. But I have changed in a variety of ways. Mainly because I am now over age 70 and things change whether you want them to or not. I still read voraciously and seek new knowledge and perspectives.

Society has changed also, and we are often dragged along with it.

In sexual matters (Lit style) my outlook is vastly different than it was even 10 years ago. I have delved into areas that I never knew about or suspected would be of interest. Is this for the better? I don't know, but it has led to a great deal of excitement and fun, at least in my inner life.

hey...

The same? Nahhhh.

I could say my taste has evolved past my talent. I often care less and appeal more. I'm less likely to turn away from my own concern. I still prefer grand gestures and epic journeys. I'll soul kiss with danger but I'm keeping my pants on. My mind is a maypole and all the thoughts are disconnected ribbon dancers. I don't think farts will ever not be funny.

Maybe a bit of this and a bit of that? I always thought my values were obscured by what other people put importance on. And because I owed the world, and not the other way around, I went along with that until the day when I didn't have to any more. Now I understand myself better anymore, but I do love make believe.

It's ok, I forgave the world its debt. Let's just hang out and see what happens.

I don't think a person can impartially say one way or another if they are improving or not.

I'd like to think I am nicely evolved. I certainly have evolve on lots of things from where I was in the past. I hope that sometime in the future all look down back at my current evolved nature and realize that I was not as evolved as I thought I was and that I continue to do so..

Areas that I am not too pleased with are long-standing areas of concern and that's not a question of evolution of intention; that's a question of execution.

Killer line, filled with subtext.

Not true. Life events and experiences can alter people deeply. People can also be warped and twisted by life.

We don't have eternal souls, we have mushy little flesh computers. A degree of reprogramming is often possible.

Can an old dog be taught new tricks?
