Hello All,

I was going through the general board reading the latest posts when a question planted itself in my feeble little mind. Are any of
us, in our regular public lives like the person that we here???
And does it really matter, or is honesty a victim to fantasy? Your thoughts?????????????

I have often thought of that myself, on boards we can be whoever we want to be. No one is the wiser. But then again, maybe it is only then we are who we truly are. Does that make any sense?

I really can't see any good reason to be anyone other than me. If I did try to be someone other than myself all I would be is a fake...a phony.

I'm pretty much me.

in rt?
They get pissy if i walk around topless.
Weird.

Yes,I am.

I am a mother, bitch, sub type person, why hide any of that?

Lies have a way of coming back and biting you on the ass.

looking at myself in the mirror
yep i am definitely real
real in lit real in rl too
what you get is what you see

If I were to fall down in a forest, and none of you were around to hear it, I would make a hell of a noise crying.
So, I am I.

Do people Know you are on lit? Would you feel comfortable with others knowing that? Would you guys want to try to suppress some of your thoughts or feelings that can be explored here, but out in the world might be considered a little strange???

I'm real......

...but I'm invisible.

And I don't cast a shadow.

Nope. And I don't want them to know, this is my *Personal* space, and you all are my entertainment, and sometimes my inspiration.

And no, I wouldn't go around letting everyone know that I want to try anal, or that I walk around my house naked. :D Although I do think I might be considered a bit strange anyways.....

I think if you are asking that if people develop personas in which they post as an entirely different personalities than themselves…I believe the answer is no.

Most people are what they seem.

Why post a bunch ideas and thoughts you don’t feel any convictions towards because you made yourself up?

Lying means keeping your story absolutely straight…remember, everything can be looked up because our thoughts are recorded.

Plus..I believe it would be a hell of lot of work to keep up.

There is the role playing forum..
That’s a good place to be whatever you want to be.

That doesn't have to include allowing anyone to know your real name -to be real..ya know?

i have introduced a few friends to lit but they got bored and went away again , dont blame em to be honest

My mother knows i'm here. She's even read a few of my stories here. She's pretty unshockable, though, my mom.

Others in my life know i'm here, too, but not many. I'm open here about myself in a way that i can't share with many of my friends, so i guard my presence here to protect us all.

A little strange?
Like.. what?
What do you mean by, "Would you guys want to try to suppress some of your thoughts or feelings that can be explored here, but out in the world might be considered a little strange????

And to answer your initial question, i'm real here.

You'll find that the reality of participants quotient here at Lit is much higher than in many other places, Irishdragon.

I think that you are asking if we are like our lit "personas", or if we invent a new personality just for the board. You might be able to start out fking it, and even be reasonablly sucessful at fooling most of us, but over time you will fail. Either the "real" personality takes over, or the lies become so complicated that the inconsisties are glaring, and usally both take place.

In a slightly diferent take on your question, I created "Puddles the Wonder Poodle" to give me a way of commenting on some of the sillier aspects of lit life from a drasticly skewed perpective. I've tried to be consistent with her personality, but she really doesn't spell any better than I do, so her posts are reconizable, or so it seems to me. It has allways amazed me that some regular posters never made the conection.

I get more "real" here, i.e., allowing repressed and/or private sides of my personality show throught, than in the outside world.

No, I wouldn't tell anyone I'm here, ask Wiggles mentioned, this is my private space. I don't feel I have to explain myself here--people see what they see. In someways it's both more and less intimate at the same time.

And I can't believe that anyone would create another nick and personality and post under that!

With THIS mug-shot....

you betcha I'm real.
One would have to be totally unaware to attempt a longterm pretense on these boards.
There are too many perceptive and intelligent posters out there for the sane (Hmmm..) to portray themselves in any way radically different than IRL.

Hell, as cantankerous as I am, would you not think I'd really be that way? :D
