Do they really, really believe in some vaguemythological land that they're going to visit when they're dead?

Do they really, really believe in what they're told by a bunch of people who have got absolutely no idea of what is the truth?

If they really, really belive in it why don't they shut up and let the rest of us say what we like?

Do you really, really think the issue of the mystery of faith is that simple? LOL

Yes, people absolutely have no doubts regarding the afterlife and the validity of their dogma. My grandmother didn't, and her religion gave her great comfort. I never tried to sway her or argue with her or poke holes in her beliefs or laugh at her hosanahs. I envied her (though I found her convictions childish).

And I do believe that life offers opportunities for true spirituality and sparks of divinity, and that "Religion" is just a cozy way to institutionalize wonder, and gives us permission in an arch world to reflect earnestly.

Yeah, I think people really believe.

WHAT???

You ask a question like that of me??!

Well it ain't meant to be paradise that's for sure...

:D :p

I don't consider myself highly religious. Yes, I believe in God, heaven, and Earth. I also believe that there's a hell and Satan/Lucifer (I think I met him on the Lit board under an assumed name, in fact). Above all, I believe that I've been blessed with alot of the success that I've achieved since my move here.

But you won't see or hear me try to "sell" you my beliefs.
You won't hear me playing Christian music on my radio.
And you won't hear me preach my favorite Biblical verse in every conversation. For I believe that there is a place for religion. And the workplace and internet may not be it, unless your workplace is a church and the internet is a Christian website.

Since this started as a religious thread I an inserting this.

Will the real heretics please stand up.

That link's a history lesson not a religous one!

And then the history is dubious.

I suppose if the church reckons I'm a heretic I'd better stand up but what would it do if I called the Chuch heretical (?) based on my own beliefs. Or is it only those with the power of a congregation can go around accusing others of something they may not necessarily be?

:)

I don't know. All I can say is, My great grandfather walked out of the seminary six months short of ordainment.

Actually, I'm not going to visit. My "vaguemythological land" is coming down to earth.

Do they really, really believe in what they're told by a bunch of people who have got absolutely no idea of what is the truth?

The truth is out there...

But...but...but...

*sigh*

Oh, honestly...

If you really, really don't want an answer, then really, really don't ask the question to begin with.

And have I ever told you to shut up? Nooooo.

My Gradma sure is. Each time I see her, she says something about God. Now, I don't mind if your Christian,(in fact Lila McCann, my ideal, is Christian,)but don't "sell" it. That's one thing that makes her cool. Preachiness PISSES ME OFF!!!!! Do I belive in God? Undecided. Do I believe in Angels? Yup. Ditto on Miracles.

Now that's interesting. You're not the first person I've met who believes in Angels and Miracles but not necessarily God.

Perhaps it's because Angels (ghosts?) and Miracles (inexplicable cures?) have been witnessed but God hasn't.

And if He's going to manifest himself in Angels and Miracles why not show himself properly so that we can all get faith...

Don't splutter it's unbecoming!:)

What exactly is LSU 48 - Tulane 17? A recipe?, a scoreline? A curse?...

:D

You can't see the wind, yet you know its there. Some things are just taken on faith. Just because you don't understand it or don't agree with it...doesn't make it wrong, doesn't mean it doesn't really exist. I think He has manifested himself. I believe in Heaven and Hell. I try my best not to shove my beliefs down others throats, if you ask I will share. I don't try to get people to see it my way and I'm open to hearing what others believe.

You really could make the same arguement for people with strong political views...I don't believe what you do..so why do you keep trying to get me to see it your way?

Seeings how I became a better person, after seeing Lila in concert, I consider her my Angel. Also, "Love is a Miracle, invisible by others." That quote has changed the way I value friendship.

awwww, shaddap, already....

Sheesh! Talk about dragging information out of someone...

So - which one do you support? do they stand a chance? who's Utah State? are they a danger? is it a competition? do you win a cup? do you have faith?...

:D smugly because I slipped that last one in...ahem!

True but you can touch, see and feel politics.

I am not a believer in any spiritual afterlife. To become one I would need proof that it exists. Not vague promises made by people who have their own "calling" for their own purpose.

I do not have faith in that direction. I doubt if I ever will. But I have come to terms with an afterlife with my own explanation of what it's all about, and I'm extremely comfortable with that.

It leaves no gaps, no half answered questions, no doubts and squares the circle perfectly.
