are people here even aware that there is "The Visual Artists' Corner" forum*?

just a quickie. nothing fancy.

and yet it has more life, character, imagination, and movement to it. it has (by virtue of body/face angle and strength of line) an emotional dimension to it.

wouldn't hang it on me wall, mind - think my sons might be a little surprised if i did :D

better, inasmuch as it creates some atmosphere with its lighting - but (for me) it lacks anything to draw me in as a viewer. it remains removed from any visual clues that might embrace me, make me part of the experience of the interaction. it fails to stir me. it might be more a female thing, don't know, but i got far more of a jolt from neci's 'quickie' because of implied facial expression which allowed me to fill in gaps. it's a bit like poetry - the right words can make the reader a part of the whole, the wrong ones will alienate so there's no interaction, or so little that it fails to reach across and touch.

I suspect (as a generalization) it is a "female thing", as you speculate. <(ha..funny the 'humor" there...as it is a painting of a female thing..snerk)
It seems to me that men, tend to gravitate towards or are "stirred" by more blatant sexual imagery (hence the porn industry). I think having external sexual organs and being able to watch ones own first mastabatory (sexual) encounters and the view afforded during partner sex. Some of this physiological some psychological and learned...and the learned bit is changing with the availability of visual material on-line etc... so women are seeing more and more and perhaps developing their own taste for it. ? maybe?

Me, I like blatant and subtle/suggestive visuals.

as for neci's piece, I enjoy the "urgency" I see there, unfortunately, I also first saw an alien (the movie) head there rather than a neck and head. Throws it off. That which has been seen, cannot be unseen.

Regardless of personal preferences, I think that those who have an interest in handcrafted visual erotica can find something in that forum.

Hopefully, there will be some additional contributors who can also "raise the bar" (so to speak :D ) with imagery which is well-rendered, visually exciting, and at least begins to get the viewers' attention, and perhaps moves beyond anything 2-D.

I suggest that if one explores a bit and looks to the posts of kinkikitten, wet_special, pattydraws, Halo_n_horns and IrezumiKiss (to name a few) you will find some talent.

we already know zumi has some skills. and i am sure there are posters here who'd enjoy some of the offerings on the artists' forum, even if they can't draw stick men to save their lives. i think my point was not that genitals cannot be 'erotic', but that it was the nature of the perspective that failed to grab me.

we see avatars on here all the time of naked flesh; the subject matter might be equally explicit, but the angles, lighting, layering of ideas they spawn vary wildly - leaving one image bland and immediately forgettable, the next astoundingly erotic.

Of course.

However, to say "we already know zumi has some skills..." is making a huge assumption. I say this, because The Visual Artists' Corner is quite buried.

And because, as you have noted, you are aware of the forum and choose not to go there, that is cool. I hope to rekindle some interest and generate some new interest form viewers and participants.

understood!

Most of mine are "quickies" as well. Mostly for my own amusement, but I do like to share.:D

It can be difficult baring oneself in that manner.

(I have not heard back from Manu or Laurel).

I kinda like that.

Much of Sussman's work seems like a vector tracing of a photograph, sometimes with a bit of clever juxtaposition of props or splicing. I don't know what his actual technique is, as I have not researched him much.

There Are some of his works which seem to me to be stronger (or weaker) by virtue of how much line work he includes or omits.

kinda like a linear version of Tom Wesselmann.

Ok... on the Literotica.com home page The New area is mentioned....still in "test mode"
attachment.php

so have at it...either submit or view and comment. (the content seems to vary wildly)

I have submitted three today (beyond the waaaay early one that Manu requested)... I am not sure about the vetting period, I suspect it will take several days. Though images should be quicker to review than stories.

I'd still like to get the Visual Artists' "Corner"...OUT of the corner as a full fledged Forum on the bulletin boards, as there can be better discussion about visual erotica on the bulletin boards.
