Are non-spam comments deleted by the site?

At one point, I received a fairly aggressive anonymous comment on one story, referring to me as a "femin@zi" (which is hilarious to me, because I got called "woman-hating misogynist" on another forum that same week). I left the comment up because, shrug, it really doesn't bother me. But at some point I noticed that the comment was gone. The name-calling was only one line in the comment; the rest was about why they didn't like the story and that was okay.

I know the site will delete spam/advertising comments but are others pared out as well?

Yes, Literotica deletes other comments too. Not sure if it's through regular sweeps or because someone else has reported the comments. I also leave hateful comments up and had them removed by the site.

Someone would have had to report it using the triangle with the exclamation point in the lower left of the comment. Then if Laurel finds the comment offensive it will be deleted.

Yes. I have had many comments deleted from my stories -- without any reporting or prompting by me. In fact, I rather enjoyed the awful comments on my Loving Wives story and was disappointed when Laurel deleted them. Some of them were so obscene as to be funny. "Here -- eat my condom" stands out as a really memorable one, but it's long since been deleted. Not by me, or by my request, however.

Yes, I've had inflammatory comments deleted by the Web site. I haven't bothered to speculate how that happened. I understand that comments are being held now before posting. I assume some just are deleted at that stage.
