Are long goodbyes a form of compensating?

They might, after all, be a way of reaching out, a way of saying "stop me" without losing face by begging...

Compensating...

Could be that someone wants others to beg. OOhhh I do love begging..*s* Lick my boots and while you're down there......

Wow, I just realized something! I won't leave either, even if you beg..ROFLMAO!!

Translations..

Well yeah but in Spanish it translates to something about "Best Little Ho..." Oh wait, that's another translation. *sigh* Whatever works..:D

Gotta love a romance language

No sweety. It's a way of saying, "I'm so pathetic that I actually think someone's going to beg me to stay, but deep down I realize that I'm completely insignificant and nobody would miss me if I were gone."

RE: Love languages

Singing, "What's love got to do, got to do with it? What's love but a second hand emotion?" ;)

That was my first notion, but then I helped hijack my own thread...

The Long Goodbye....

...is a name of a great song! Such compassionate people here! Wow! I think we have an entire bevy of future ambassadors amongst (southern thang) us!

There are lots of goodbye songs... many of them very beautiful, some utterly haunting.

I think it is a way of letting people they care about know they are leaving. Of course, you tend to lose face when you keep doing it and then come back. It's better to fade quietly away, pm those you have to come to care about, and then slip just as quietly back in when the time is right.

I'm going out kicking and screaming for attention though..;)

So, if you get, say, 1000 views to a melodramatic goodbye thread should you post a retraction?

Always go with your gut instinct.

May I lick your chest?

You're a good man. lol

Actually, it's that spot just above your collarbone that I'm gonna have to attack...

*grin*

I think the thread starter needs to go through and see how many "Stays" and how many "leaves."

Factor in all the "Have nothing to do with you" posts and divide them by two. Count that number as "leaves," as those people really don't give a shit one way or the other. Divide by the # of posters...subtract it all by the # of views and the total # of posts...

Damn, I am not a mathematician. Let the poster figure it out!

Keep going and that will keep a person busy so that they won't interject their personal victimization on the rest of us or expect validation. Sometimes I get so tired of people wanting to be validated.

Kind of like parking.
