I’m one of the unfortunate few who have to stay booze free on old year’s night, as I’m on call for where I work. So as friends and family are starting the night before I’m off call, I’ve also volunteered as designated driver. That is a decision each man must make for himself.

It should. Cock rings can help a man hold an erection longer and can also make one's cock appear larger. (Whether or not it actually does make a cock larger, as some men sau, is open to speculation.) The premise behind how a cock ring works is that the arteries supplying blood to the penis are inside, while the veins taking the blood from the penis are on the outside. The ring at the base of the penis keeps some of the blood in the penis, rather than allowing all of it flow back out. More blood = longer erection. However, this is also caution that a cock ring should NOT be too tight - it could restrict blood flow, the user might not be able to remove it, and a trip to the ER might be necessary. (Or if you know some one with a good pair of bolt cutters to cut the darn thing off!)

C) How tight dose it have to be?

It should be very snug to work effectively, but, as stated above, you don't want it too tight. You would need to decide if you want rubber, which expands somewhat, or metal. They normally come in 2 to 3 different sizes. The standards, I believe, are around 1.5" and 2.0", listed as regular and large, respectively. Unless you are great girth, most men fit the regular category. And this is one instance where a man really shouldn't fudge on size!

You put it on while your penis is still flaccid and somewhat bendable. (damn, that sounds weird!) You put one on (a single ring) by drawing the testicles through first, one at a time, then by pushing the penis through. Cock rings, unless otherwise stated, go at the base of the penis, behind the balls. Now, there are also cock rings that look like 3 rings formed in a triangle: one ring goes at the base of the penis and behind the balls, another ring has the balls pushed through, and the final ring is where a man pushes his penis through. They are a little more complicated, but some men enjoy the feeling of having their testicles bound up. It's an individual choice.

For a beginner, I would say rubber as it gives a little. And I would use a single ring. Muliple rings can be confusing at first, and a bother if one is trying to accomplish this in a hurry.

Do NOT use a rubber band! They constrict with tension and can be VERY ouchie!

Also, a very strong caution here! If you know you will be inebriated, take extra caution while wearing a cock ring. Seriously, it can become too tight very quickly. Normally, if a man can relax and let his penis get soft, a ring should be no problem removing. However, if you begin to panic, causing blood to pump faster, you may have a problem on your hands. A trip to the ER with an erection and a ring to be cut off is no way to start the New Year! And even rubber cock rings are difficult to cut through. If you know you will be drinking, make certain you check and look at yourself periodically. Also, give your penis a break between orgasms. While a cock ring can help a man to maintain an erection for a longer period of time, it is not meant to be a device that keeps a man hard all night.

We've found that a leather thong with a slip knot in it works just as well. BTW, don't bother with those Erexcels in Dr. Leonard's catalog. They don't stay fastened very well.

A good leather one that can be adjusted .... there are some that are just wrapped around the balls and some that hold the balls and penis... seperately .... they both extend play time as well as cumming . Maybe you should try a soft suede one with adjustable snaps to vary the tightness.....

I have a lot of experience with cock rings. Love some hate some. My toy store sells them in plastic, white rubber (soft & stretchy), black rubber (harder, not very stretchy), steel and leather.

The plastic one (tubing) is mostly for show and not very functional. I personally do not care for the rubber ones and have never tried steel. Adjustable leather ones are fun. And they do work. Have four favorites: (1) the simple strap-a leather strap, 3 snaps, fits at the base; (2) the spreader-H shaped- the larger strap goes around the base of the penis, the middle strap between the balls and the front strap snaps back to the base strap; (3) a different sort of spreader- a long strap that loops around the base of the penis, the ends then are looped around each ball separately and snap to the base strap, like a big figure 8; (4) a stretcher-a leather band about 3/4" wide that goes around the base of the penis, a 2" wide band that stretches the balls and a narrow leather band at the bottom that goes between the balls to divide them.

Some are more difficult to put on than others. All are fun.
