what is impractical about wanting to be a doctor?

I wouldn't phone one up to come and clear a blocked drain...

:D

I have a little of both.

I have been working on and off as a Car Mechanic for 5 years now. Have not really taken any clases exactly but lots of on the job experience. I have enough experince now to take one of the SAE exams, but have not done it yet.

I used to be an OK muscian, but I have not played an instrument seriously in 3 years.

I took 2 years of engineering classes before I switched to Poli Sci/Journalism and I think I want to go into the USMC.

Is that well rounded enough for you or am I just confused?

car mechanics? - you must mean auto technicians, right?

plumbing - hon, here in the states the only way to become a plumber is become an apprentice to a plumber and you have to let him have his way with you with a pipe wrench before he'll even consider it - it was okay for awhile, but...well, nevermind, it's a long story...

cookery - as in chefs' school? a bit too high-handed for me, but i can toast a mean poptart if you're interested in breakfast

electrical appliances? - like a blender? what sort of a career is that?

construction - give me a set of legos and back off...who needs special training for that?

:D

And I wouldn't go to a plumber if I was sick, either. So?

So my little pedantic poster, who will look after the day to day things when everyone else is busy joining country clubs.

I've got to think of things like this, being in the twilight of my years an' all...

I was uhh... partaking in some "hebal refreshment" the other night and burned my pop-tart because I forgot about it. Does this mean I should drop all of my culinary classes? Or just quit making pop-tarts?

i don't think i will ever join a country club. i'm not going into medicine so i can make huge amounts of money. and i would say that one's health is a "day to day thing"

What classes do you take to be a senator? I could be an awesome one.

I just hope I don't have to go to law school! :)

Well, they usually start off in Law or Medicine.

Gives them an edge over mechanics and electricians...

It damn sure does give them an edge...it teaches them how to say Remarkable rather then Bullshit...
