I can sort of understand a company's position on this in most cases, but this is not a common case. We don't want companies releasing this type of information in most domestic investigations, but there is no reason for them to be obstinate in a case like this.

The FBI has done it the right way, gone to court and obtained an order. Apple must give up the sauce.

At this point they essentially in Contempt of Court and I would support Cook being jailed.

Holy smokes, you're stupid.

psssst... it's not contempt of court to refuse to comply with an order you are appealing. That's like... how the US justice system works.

As an aside - it's a sad commentary on our government, that after all the billions we've spent on computer nerds, they can't even read the contents of an iPhone.

I might even support Cook being charged with aiding terrorism if he doesn't comply immediately.

I expect the FBI already accessed the data, and what this is, is an effort to make the evidence legal NOT an illegal seizure, if they prosecute others.

That would mean the government is smarter than Apple...which is highly doubtful to the casual observer.

Basically, the government is requiring a business to provide technical assistance against suspected evildoers.

I'd like to see the legal rationale behind this. "But...but...terra!" seems rather flimsy.

Youre naïve. The FBI prolly got the info from the Chinese....the phone is made in China, dipstick.

The FBI has the evidence, it needs lawful access to it so prosecutions don't fizzle.

All the coolest evildoers do evil on the iPhone.

My son recently retired from the military. He started out as an assassin and ended as first sergeant of an intelligence unit. The governments access to encrypted data is extensive but not always legally acquired. When the FBI prosecutes terrorists it doesn't wanna reveal hot it collects the evidence. And Tim Cook is a pissy fag.

Do you understand the concept of inalienable? If not, ask Eyer. He's always banging on about it.

Moreover, there is no way the government, this precedent being set, will stop here, and you know it. Which government has ever given back power. once obtained?

yes......that means criminals can never be put in prison as that would go against THEIR INALIENABLE rights!

First, you're an hour late on your thread http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=1282712

Secondly, and more importantly, you really don't understand how security works, or doesn't, if the FBI gets their way.

As an aside - it's a sad commentary on our government, that after all the billions we've spent on computer nerds, they can't even read the contents of an iPhone.
Read the link in my thread, it's more accurate than the crap on most "news" sites.
