No but seriously, my favorite band of all time has got to be Fleetwood Mac. Every other band mentioned here I could give or take, but I gots to get me some Mac!

(Although The Darkness does rock fo sho.)

I don't know if ABBA will be played in Hell, but we can arrange to play it at your funeral, if you like...

“Yeah, sometimes my lyrics are sexist,
But you lovely bitches and ho’s should know I’m working to correct this.”

10 bonus points to anyone who can name the group.

(Ooooooooooo, I really hate accounting!!!!!! Save me, someone, anyone, please!)

I love Abba but not for the reasons a lot of people do. Have you ever tried to catch the words? The songs are actually kind of bitter, sad, depressing and interesting, when you have all that happy superficial stupid pop sounding stuff and these words that are kind of depressing - something interesting happens.

Like, I don't think anyone is "having the time of your life" in Dancing Queen. I think it's about trying to convince yourself you're happy when you are so not - very seventies ushering in the 80's.

Definitely a precursor of the Cardigans, prior to major label whoredom. Happy Meal works on the Abba principal.

I'll see your Prunes and raise you The Sonics.

And my theory goes largely unappreciated.

Nope, your theory makes perfect sense. This is why I like reading your posts....because it always makes me consider another alternative.

Aww. Thanks.

I tend to "deep listen" commercial jingles and all kinds of things that don't necessarily deserve it.

That's really cool. I love the idea of that but I'm so easily distracted that I would have to listen multiple times before I could even consider "deep listening."

*grabs bijou's hands and dances while singing* You are a Dancing queen...

So I have this conversation with Master the other night about Mamma Mia and he is also not into ABBA. Told me that I had to choose between him and the band because they were not allowed in his house...so unAmerican...*covers forehead with arm and whines* The pain...oh the pain...how will I choose?...how will I choose? :D

*dances out of the thread singing* Gimme Gimme Gimme a man after midnight...

I had to say Obligatory Other.

Cause I kinda love Abba, but I know how very wrong that is. I've tried support groups. It just didn't work. Just the other day I heard "Waterloo" and danced around like a maniac. I even know most of the words.

I've tried everything. Drugs. Self-hypnosis. Classical conditioning. Shock therapy. Whips and chains. (okay, that was just for fun, but still.) I still get all squishy whenever I hear the opening notes to this.

*slow-dances to "Fernando" with Nala*

That's okay, honey, true fans like us don't even need to listen to the songs any more, cause we have them all memorized.

"there was something in the air that night; the stars were bright, Fernandooooooo.."

*assumes she's now banned, lurks*

Well, I think you should make an exception for Nala, since she's actually mentioned in your poll.

I, on the other hand, could justifiably be banned. I'd even try to respect it. But consider this: you've sabotaged yourself. You've accidentally created a thread where Abba fans can bond and support one another.

Maybe it's karma or something.

I'm now officially sorry for stating my abhorrence of ABBA. I didn't know there would be so many of you, people, in the world.

I feel compelled to ask though. Those 4000 people....was it total frontal nudity? or were you just flashing the boobies? And since NALA seems to like to show off too, is it because your an ABBA fan that your an exhibitionist? There seems to be some correlation.

Heh. Well, these were clothing-optional camping events, basically pagan festivals, women's festivals and like that. I tend to go round with little or nothing on at those, weather permitting of course. And if you figure 20 years, about two festivals a year, each averaging at least 500 attendees and sometimes three times that... 4000 is a pretty conservative figure.

As to whether Abba fandom makes one more likely to be into public nekkidness, I'm inclined to say yes, there is a correlation. I'm just hoping that thinking this will make you more inclined to forgive our terrible addiction.
