Lots of people would probably like to be able to not be themselves for awhile. A lot of the stories on here are about people living wild lifestyles and praying they don’t get caught...but with technology and social media getting ever more present, it’s hard to not get tagged or have your full background available within a few minutes...
But what if there was an app that didn’t just mask your online presence but also made people unable to recognize you?
For example let’s say some woman is sick of acting uptight and does an amateur night at the strip club. Normally the club doesn’t allow pictures but some asshole got her photo...but since she had the app, no one can recognize her.
So what would people do with this app? Now let’s be a bit kind and say that it will automatically turn off if you try to INTENTIONALLY do something harmful and illegal. So no stealing, murder, or rape. What it protects you from is shame and professional consequences.
So let’s say that shy guy who is overstressed, closeted, and desperate to keep a scholarship, turns the app on, hooks ups with a couple guys and girls, goes streaking, and then wakes up the next morning with no one knowing he did any of it.
Also: what is the cost? What do the app makers want?
One possibility is that if you don’t want the app’a effects to leave, you need to keep doing things you’d be embarrassed about. Maybe the makers feed off the fear of the users who are scared they’ll be caught or maybe it’s to get blackmail material.
