She nodded as he left and began to roam around the room, no real option to do otherwise. The room was filthy, definitely kept by a filthy boy, no...a man, certainly one wise to the world. She had the idea to search for weapons, sure that he would have them. She opened the drawers of the small dresser sitting near the bed. She found nothing but clothes. She looked under the bed and found what looked like a gun case. She slid it from beneath the mattress and hurriedly opened it to find nothing.
"Goddammit," she mumbled to herself, as she closed the case and returned it to its original location. She wondered if Chase was having better luck than she was. She wondered if he was okay. She walked across the room and pushed a button on the television. Nothing happened and she snapped back into knowledge that she now lived in a world where electronics did not exist. She sat back down on the bed, placing her hands in her lap.
I have to get out of here, she thought. She thought about his warning about leaving the room. She thought about the horror she had already seen in the streets of the small town where they had become stranded with this man and his ultimatum. I have to get home.
