Anyone with experience in T&M category?

One of the premises I'm trying to make into a story might have a home in the Toys & Masturbation category. Does anyone have experience with posting there, and therefore a grasp of what its readership enjoys? To read, that is. I think I know what they enjoy grasping. In particular, if there's also partner sex in the story, does this transgress the bounds of the category?

Certainly there's partner sex in the category, although that's not what I'm looking to see when I read there. Posts there are infrequent, and divide between self pleasure and use of toys/machines.

I think as single male character using just his hands should be fine, too.

I thought stories in category called Toys & Masturbation might be about masturbating with toys. So, I wrote one and posted it there. Based on how the readership is on the fence on whether it’s hot or not (it’s been bobbing over and under 4.5 the whole time it’s been out), and a few other stories in the category I looked at when mine came out, I assume readers there don’t want happy women masturbating with toys. Rather, they seem to want toys inserted into women but operated by someone else, preferably in public. Happiness also seems inconsequential, some kind of edging and denying orgasm is more like it.

I have an ongoing story series which essentially centres around mutual tease and masturbation, with and without toys. I stuck it in Erotic Couplings as I couldn't see any other category more suitable.

Perhaps it should have gone in T & M?

I've done maybe half a dozen of T&M stories, none of any exceptional, polished literary stature. Still, they seem to have done well, score-wise, and have been read a fair bit. Some if not all wound up with the toys being discarded in favour of a real person. Some included, um, 'voluntary coercion', some were totally self-initiated. All in all, there have been - for my forays into that areas - no hard and fast rules.

I've written one story for this category, Teddy Bear, and I'm very pleased with how it did. It won first place in the T&M category contest for 2021. It was published about 11 months ago, and it's had just over 50,000 views, which surprises me. I didn't expect much from this category.

I read a few stories as research for the category and I think it's broader than some people think. It can involve toys or masturbation, together or combined, with one or more people. You can incorporate elements of other "non-trump" categories in the story, such as first time, or group sex, fetish, or exhibitionism.

My story has a whimsical, magical tone. With this category I think it helps to play up the naughty aspect--make the toy unusual (that's what I did) or have a character use the toy or masturbate in an unusual circumstance or location (I did this too). Make it fetishy.

I wouldn't hesitate to put a story that has some partner sex in this category, but my advice would be to include the toy in the partner sex. Perhaps they share the toy, or use it on each other. The key is that people come to this category expecting to get what the category title suggests.

I have a synopsis for a T&M story that I haven't bothered to fill in. I spent some time reading other stories in the category and found that most were very short and largely devoid of any kind of plot. My story might have fit right in, and that didn't interest me.

Still, it's there if I change my mind.
