Anyone use VK.com?

A friend of mine wants me to sign up for VK.com. He says its better than Facebook. From my experience with Facebook, that doesn't really say much.

Anybody have any experience with VK.com? Is it a trustworthy site or worth the effort?

I guess its a Russian Facebook or something. He wants to introduce me to some girls he knows on there. I'm not into cybering, and not planning any vacations to Belarus, so I don't know why I'd care.
