My honey has been told that in 13-18 months he should be getting a promotion and a transfer to Chattanooga.

Does anyone know which areas have the better schools? Where are the best places to buy a house?

I don't know the answer to any of your questions, but I do know that it's a shorter flight between there and New Jersey.

Vixen, are you close to Chattanooga?

julia

yes, I'm about an hour's northeast of Chatty.

Chattanooga is a great town. My younger sister, her husband and two boys lived there for 2 years and I would drive down to visit quite often.

What would you like to know?

I have the perfect house here in a great neighborhood, I want to find that there too.

I am looking for a quiet middle to uppermiddle class neighborhood with good schools, preferably one with a good gifted program or at least advanced classes for my boys.

The town we live in now has that small town old fashion feel and I love it, I hope there is one up there for me to find.

So here is my list ;) not that I am picky
House:
4 bedrooms minimum
3 baths
living room, dining room, eat in kitchen, den, playroom, 2 car garage, basketball goal, fireplaces and a pool. (prefer a cul-da-sac like I have now)

Schools:
Must rank high in education and offer gifted services for my smart little book worms.

Town:
low crime
old fashion charm
small town feel
close enough to Chattanooga for my honey to get to work everyday.

I found all that (except the pool and fireplaces) here in Atlanta without even looking hard, I hope I can find it in Chattanooga too.

best place to go is Signal Mountain

Take the Signal Mtn. exit and turn left at the bottom of the ramp. Go straight until you see a Buger King on the right and take that road. Travel on that road until you come to a stop.. go straight and you'll see exactly the type of homes you're looking for. This is a suburb outside the city limits and you're close to schools, a park, hospitals, etc. and it's easy to connect to the interstate to get you downtown. You'll love it in Chattanooga!

Thanks Vixen!!! We go to Chattanooga for day trips with the kids a lot and have season passes to the aquarium so I know I will love it there I just want to make sure we buy a house in the right place.

the place I'm talking about is off the same road you'd take to go to the Aquarium. It is either the first or the second exit past the Aquarium exit. You'll see it. My sis used to live in Concepts 21 apts. off that road and one day I started driving around up past that area and ran into the homes I was talking about. You will fall in love with them. Full of old charm and big shade trees, wrap around front porches and lots of land. The park isn't too far away and it is in a very low crime area.

Good luck house hunting and let me know if I can help anymore, ok?
