I recently started shaving and wanted to know if anyone knew of a lotion or powder that cuts down a little on the irritation. If not, I know it just takes time to get used to it, but if someone does know of something then that would be wonderful! Thanks!

That's the second question like that in two days. Is there some sort of shortage of decent razors I should know about? :)

I keep a bottle of witch hazel in the refrigerator and use it on my face after shaving. It quickly soothes any irritation caused by the razor or an occasional pimple. The area you're shaving is far more sensitive than my face and may not appreciate the cold. However, I find the effect of room tempature witch hazel seems flat compared to it chilled.

Just this guys opinion though.

Try with a decent moisturizer prior to shaving. A good sharp fresh razor helps too. The steam, heat & water in the shower soften everything up prior to has always helped me too. Any post shaving moisturizer has helped but make sure it's alcohol free.

Good luck.

You just started shaving what?? If you're female and just started shaving your legs *hopefully* you're too young to be here (and should leave then), because if you're over 18 and started shaving your legs for the first time in your life that is just scary!

Me, personally, I use Nair on my legs, pubic hair, and even underarms. After that, I use Jergens Naturally Smooth shave minimizing lotion to reduce how often I would have to remove hair. :)

Ooo...good point there GoodLilPet!

We'll all assume that he/ she meant their pubes and that they are of legal age.

I can't speak for all, obviously, but since I shave on a daily basis (since Magic burns the shit out of my skin), I use that "Skintimate shave gel"...it smells really good, and my skin is never irritated. Afterward, I use just a dab of the "Skintimate after-shave moisturizing gel", and it keeps me soft and smooth, and no bumps. :D

mens aftershave works really well....it reduces irritation by like 80% and it doesnt make you all wet.
