Anyone here use the antidepressant Effexor

Yes, just harmless fun. I tend to do harmless fun when my brain goes on the blink.

Sorry for making you feel like you were intruding raindancer

not to much yet, I been on the 37.5 dose for 6 weeks the doc upped me to the 75 monday and like all of a sudden when i feel tired i got about 15-20 minutes and then i am out of it.

Then wehn I do sleep its like nothing wakes me up, I mean I sleep almost 12 hours yesterday and today, I set my alram for my usual 8 hours and when it went off i felt trashed and turned it off and went back to sellp woke up 4 hours later on top of the world.

Oh yeah its Effexor XR if that makes a difference

I'm on Effexor - very mellowing. A lot "softer" than the Zoloft that preceded it. :) Your symptoms are normal - it'll pass - but the vivid dreams are a TRIP!!! (good, I mean)

Effexor XR is also not as deleterious to male hydraulic function as Zoloft, at least in MY case...:p

Fuck me, like half of us here are clinicly Depressed - JEEZ! :(

My doc suggested the Effexor over the zoloft cause i wasn't what he deemed "a risk' whatever that meant. haven't had the vivid dreams, but been told about them.

well, i am a virign and single so hydraulics are not a major concern at the moment.

no, I am not into the mano-a-mano sex.

yes i read somewhere 40% of the population is in undiagnosed depression

I first began taking it 12 months ago despite knowing beforehand there was a good possibility of becoming physically dependent on it, something that everyone isn't aware of.Looking back I'm glad I took it and have gradually reduced the dosage to 37.5 mg/day, but when I stopped taking it altogether there were definite withdrawal symptoms that I didn't expect. The doc prescribed a 25 mg. tablet that can be divided to reduce the dosage even more, but I havent started that yet.
As far as the side effects - fatigue, hard to get up in the morning, and VERY vivd dreams that weren't nightmares but they also weren't very pleasant. And yes, it can take the lead out of your pencil.

The fatigue and dreams will subside in time - but the trick is to get enough sleep on a reg. basis. I find that the dreams are handle-able when I've gone to bed at a decent hour... :D

And as for hydraulics - there IS a cure for that. YA-HOOOOO!
