Anyone have a wine cellar/cooler?

I'm considering installing a mini-wine cooler/cellar in my living room, but I'm concerned with the noise level. I've only seen them installed in kitchens and bar areas, within the cabinet structure. I'd like to put it in the corner, along the same wall as the couch.

Does anyone have a free standing wine cooler, and if so, what kind and where do you keep it? Is the sound distracting?

I think it will depend on the model you get. I don't have a wine cooler, but I've got both a Fridge and a freezer within six feet of my computer, and neither makes enough noise to be noticeable.

Modern refrigeration systems are generally pretty quiet.

(I was going to say that I have only had one wine cooler in my life, and didn't like the nasty, Koolaidy taste. But I won't, because you need a serious answer.)
