So, I'm in York for the day having driven up to let my son have a look around the university - what is there to do here, so far it appears... Not much

Minster, Castle, walk around the walls, Jorvik, Dungeons, Shambles, Museum Gardens...
Loads to do in a day

What! My local city.... need some advice? There's a ton of things to do and see. Start by visiting the Minster.....

There's also a cool viking themed pub I went to. Good beer and food.

I last went there in 1985, it seemed quite busy, has it changed much?

Sadly it's too busy in tourist season. Third most tourist visited city in UK after London and Edinburgh apparently. Loads of good pubs, bars and restaurants as a consequence. Down side is that on a Saturday it's stag and hen party central, even during the day. Definitely avoid Sat evenings unless you want a very wild night out
