Anyone ever try Ambien?

I've been having trouble sleeping, and the shrink gave me some Xanax; he said to try it out for a while and if it didn't prove effective, he'd prescribe some Ambien. Well, I've been taking two Xanax at bedtime and it worked fairly well for a couple of weeks, but now my body is back to its old tricks.

I keep hearing about people binge eating, sleepwalking, etc. and got a little nervous to try it. Before I agree to give it a try, I thought I would get a few opinions.

Any input?

i used it once, i didn't have any problems with it.

I hated it. Even at a half dosage it knocked me out for 10-12 hours and I felt like crap afterward. Lunesta did the same thing.

I've given up. I have what's called a delayed sleep cycle and everything is either too strong or not strong enough.

I've never used it. I usually use tylenol simply sleep and that works well for me.

I had minor surgery last week and the doctor gave me tylenol with codeine (he said it would help with the pain and help me to sleep at night). I hated it. I was so spacey and out of it...awful.

I take ambien. As long as you aren't sleeping alone you are ok, because it can make you sleepwalk and do weird shit. One night in my sleep I poured a bottle of red wine down the sink that was meant for making shepard's pie the next day. Other times I've done things like taken clothes off of their hangars and placed them in the bathtub. Once I moved the kitchen garbage can out from under the sink and put it somewhere weird, like the living room.

It happens from time to time, but really not that often. This is over the course of more than a year on the med.

Lock your doors, put your car keys in posession of your spouse if you're worried about doing something dangerous in your sleep.

Other than the sleepwalking effect it's a really good sleep med.

P.S. Xanax sucks because it wears off in the middle of the night and then you wake up and can't go back to sleep. I don't like that stuff. I only use it when I have to fly.

I don't believe in pills...period. Unless it is to keep my body working. Try something relaxing, reading a book...a nice bath or shower...watch a movie cuddled with your favorite blanket. Get on a schedule. If insomina or nerves are bad, have one strong cocktail. Other than that, any pill that a doctor may put on, may work for a time, the more you take, the more your body will become addicted..it just doesn't work in the long run.

I tried Ambien before. Even a half dose knocked me off my ass. I should have taken it and gotten straight into bed. I nearly did a header walking down the hallway because it was as if I was drunk. It provided great sleep but the next day I'd have kind of an achey head feeling that took awhile to shake. For sleep issues now I just take Tylenol PM.

Seriously something that works great for me is a heavy dose of good masturbation.

So then why did you just start a thread about it earlier this month like you were brand new to the drug?
