Anyone ever enter their stories in contests???

I received an e mail a couple months ago about a contest for short stories. Are these contests legit? Has anyone else ever mailed off their manuscripts to a contest before? Please let me know. I am considering entering a contest as the top prize is $325. Thanks.

If I was you I'd do some research into the company that emailed you before sending out your work. There are a lot of scrupleless people out there just looking to scam. Some contests do ask you for an entry fee. It's up to you if you wanna shell out the bucks though. Also, I'd be weary if they asked for no entry fee but promised a cash prize. They may just be looking to steal your work. *shrugs*

I have entered my stories to a contest online. I can't recall the site but the winner was selected by reader's votes. There was 6 stories competing the month I entered mine. The prize was a free months membership to the site or a CD collection of erotic stories. My story won by 63% of the votes but I didn't collect the prize. It was enough just to see my name 'up in lights'.

Yes, there is a $12 entry fee for every three stories submitted. I was just wondering if it could be a publisher who is looking for new talent.
