Anyone ever actually read "Moby Dick?

I read it in seventh grade and found Melville less exciting than Piers Anthony.

I should give it a look see again.

I tried, but failed. I did know a guy who plowed through it though, and he said he liked it. I think he was just proud of having done it.

I imagine it won't be long before Ishmael is in this thread.

What a low opinion you have of us, Mister Dixon Carter Lee.

Actually, I read the Classic Comic version....

;)

I read Billy Budd. It took me a good long month to resurrect my passion for reading after that one. Never attempted to tackle the whale.

I read it and liked it. Back in high school, I went through a classics phase, and found most of them to be pretty good.

I read it. I recall liking it, much to the chagrin of my fellow classmates. I was always weird like that though. I liked all the books we read. I should have always known I'd be an English major.

I'm sure I check it out in sixth grade because of the title but I don't think I actually read it. I'll add it to my "in the hospital and have to ask my mother or a nun for books to read" list.

I don't do monitors or keyboards.

It was independent of school. :p

I feel you Pyper, though I'm still going through my Classics phase. I just can't get enough books. Words fascinate me.

Oh, sure i read it as well as the old classics at one time or another. The good Capitan could learn alot from "The gambler"

I was too young to read when the 1956 version with Gregory Peck and Richard Basehart came out. So, I did watch it first and read it years later. Liked the movie version better ... :D
