Pretty sure I just received the latest in a series of I love your work, best writer ever, please contact me!

At least this person called out a specific story, but I'm not bothering to reply.

Anyone else here from "Matt?"

First off, my name is Matt Smart, and I fell in love with your story "Sweet Reluctance". It was without a doubt one of the greatest stories I have ever read in my life. I love it so much in fact, I would like to commission you to write another one. Please, consider this offer, I would love to commission someone with the kind of talent you have, and I promise you will be paid well. Thank you for your time.

I think "Matt" messaged me several months ago with the same "fill in the blank" request. But not recently, no.

I wouldn't discount all of these. Over the years, I've received three requests like this that turned out to be genuine. One led to being paid for a year to help establish the story file of a story site's startup (Gaydemon). Another was a "by-the-story" pay site that didn't stay up long, and the third was the free site (Stickypen) I'd posted to before coming over here and stopped because one of their moderators pissed me off--and when the site owner saw that I was posting here, he asked me to post there again.

Asking on this forum how wide the net is that's being cast seems a good move.

Can't say who it was from but yes several months I had a couple of approaches as did my editor, at the time Juicystarchild. I asked for terms and conditions before going any further as did she.
The person concerned never responded to either of us.

I assumed that It was someone who thought they could make money out of an erotica website but really didn't have a clue what was involved.

I'm sure some are for real there was a "Roxy Wood" who was soliciting people to buy their stories a few months ago and was legitimately offering a sum along with a contract.

What she/he was doing was then putting them up on smashwords (they gave you the choice of using your pen name or if you wanted to not be associated with your smut it would go under Roxy Wood)

The gamble was that they would make back their fee on each book and then some with sales. I would like to know how they made out as as you know an e-book sometimes can take a bit to make $50 on a site like that.

I thanked him for his time and compliment, but the only thing I would be interested in is if its some type of anthology and my name can stay with the story to advertise myself.

I agree with you that a site like this has a lot of potential for someone looking to build up a library.
