Okay, now I am officially part of the club. Honestly, I have no authorly illusions. Writing is what it is, a fun escapade between classes. Something I enjoy doing.

So back to the feedback email.

Hello,

My name is Ben and I am emailing you on behalf of Legend IM
Solutions, a small business Internet marketing and publishing
company. A member of our team recently came across some sample
writings of yours and we loved your style and content.

The reason we are contacting you is because we are publishing a
collection of erotic short stories geared toward women and would
love to include your writing in our upcoming book. We will be
featuring 20 erotic short stories from talented erotic writers and
would love to have you on board. This is a great opportunity for
erotic fantasy writers to get additional exposure and have the
ability to promote additional material of theirs because we will be doing 100% of the marketing on their behalf.

If you are interested, we would love to speak to you more about
this opportunity. We hope to hear from you soon because submissions
will be closed after we have decided on 20 quality erotic fantasy
writers and their short story submissions. If you are interested
you can contact me back at the address specified below.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,
Ben Murray

A quick internet search did not turn up anything conclusive on LegendIM solutions. So I am asking if anyone else knows about them. I don't intend to publish for money either way, but it would be nice to know about Ben Murray's credibility.

A few others have gotten this; there's another thread or two about it somewhere. I got one similar but from a different company a month or so ago. There doesn't seem to be any credibility, and I myself am skeptical of any unsolicited stuff like this. I'd ignore it.

I got the exact same one a week ago. Did you notice they seem to want female authors? (check the wording) Or was I misreading that? Maybe they want stories ABOUT women.

Sorry to interrupt your fun conversation ladies, butt... :D

This is what I posted on the other thread. It's MHO.

Everyone seems to be getting this e-mail or one like it. If you want to allow this person to make money off your stories while you get the publicity then go right ahead.

As far as I'm concerned it's a scam. Amazon has been booting people and freezing their accounts for stealing stories. This is one way of getting around it.

Considering there is not a working website it is a complete and utter scam. As in even if you want the publicity don't expect it because all they are doing is collecting stories. I seriously doubt there will ever be an actual book made. Most likely if you say yes they will tell you that they need a payment for whatever reason.

Just a scam to get money from people who don't know better.

This same stuff under different alts has been floating around for what seems like years. Translated--so you you can't drop a DMCA notice on me when I make money off your work, give me your stories and save me the trouble of stealing them.

They claim to be looking for short erotic stories geared toward women. The author's gender doesn't matter, as long as the story appeals to a demographic, telling me that we have someone here who is hoping to cash in on the "new trend."

"New trend," my ass. I've got hard copies of anthologies of erotica for women dating back to 1997, and it was old then.

I've received this e-mail too, and as others have already said, the lack of a functioning website doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. I've also had stories lifted from Lit, so it was kind of... nice(?) to have someone ask first. Of course, responding to the e-mail at all will probably just open any of us up to no end of crap.
