Recently one of my readers reached out to me and suggested I start doing donations because he wanted to support me financially. I can't tell ya'll how shocked I was to receive such praise. I mostly due stories for the fun of it. I'll admit, there was a time when I wanted writing to be my career, but instead I focused more on my art. However, writing is such a part of me that I knew I couldn't stop doing it. Ideally I've dreamed of combing these 2 loves.

But after this reader gave me feedback, I did wonder about creating a Patreon account. So on my profile, I asked my readers for their opinions. Now I want ya'll's opinions though. Do any of you have a Patreon account and if you do, what do you do as far as rewards go? Because that's always been my biggest issue with Patreon, coming up with rewards, along with not thinking I wouldn't get enough support from it.

Thanks! And I hope it's okay I ask this question.

Of course it's ok to ask that question.

I've considered it myself for other things than writing. Having to reward various levels with increased content could make a pleasurable activity become a job. I've never seen much more than 4-600/mo in support for anyone but maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

I do support a website I like that raises $$$ that way but it's the only one......ever!

There are a variety of book selling sites that generate clients but some of them demand up to 60% of the action. Utter BS in my opinion.

If you're just writing for entertainment and your own pleasure I'd just thank the reader and take it as a real compliment. Perhaps help in those dark moments we all have when we doubt ourselves.

I'm not really sure how to use Patreon when the writing is primarily a hobby. It seems like a much better structure for people doing art and comics and such.

I always kind of figured that someday I'll open an account on smashwords, primarily just for a new pool of readers, but also as a top jar of sorts for fans from my free site accounts.

An amazon gift card can be created and given online, without even an email (if one desired). They get the code and provide to you, you apply to your account, and that's it.
