Anyone British?

I'm not much use for information on English schools because where I live still has selection at 11 and Grammar Schools or High Schools that cover students from 11 to 18. That is unusual in England.

My school education was in a primary school in London, a preparatory school in Gibraltar, a boarding school in East Anglia, a grammar school on the fringes of London, a High School in Australia and back to the grammar school for a short while.

All of them are so historic that they wouldn't fit a story in the 1970s or later.

Education beyond school? Even more complicated.

Well, I'm in my second year of A-levels at my FE (further education) college. I used to go this Catholic School and we would have different teachers for each subject, and a tiny library. Being Catholic the teachers were very strict and we never knew their first names so they would have the higher status. Sex education was DON'T DO IT, and gayness was quietly frowned upon. It's only recently I learn that one of my gay friends had sex in the religious studies staff toilets, and we had some satantic ritual in the back of the school...it's all very good story stuff, isn't it? In the middle of school there would be this biggish oval space of green surrounded by several buildings which would have different subjects in. Most of the naughty stuff would be done behind the science block or in the toilets. Although sport is a big thing, most girls try to avoid it. We didn't have school buses but the posh places did. After high school theres either Sixth Form from 16-18 or FE college which I go to - the ages are mainly 16-18 but we have a couple of 19, 20 year olds who are repeating their courses, if that helps.

In my college, its very large and so much goes on. For example, my teacher told me about one of his students who was too upset to do the exam because she had caught her boyfriend having sex with someone else in college! It's pretty mad. We have an infamous classroom which is lockable from the inside. Many have been caught, including two teachers in the morning doing anal! So there you have it - smoking, drunkeness, fights, chips and pizza - that is the English school system.

so it might be feasible for an 18 yo to be finishing their last year in high school if, say, they took 2 years off for some reason?

It'd be feasible for an 18 y/o to be finishing their last year at school, just in general.

You can leave school at 16. You don't have to. At a private school, I'd imagine it'd be encouraged to stay on and do the extra exams. Basically, leaving at 16 rules you out university and most of the better jobs, at least in recent times.

All this talk of school ending at 16 is confusing the hell out of me. I went to a grammar school, where you had to pass a test to get in and intelligence was assumed as standard. If you didn't get one of the top grades, then you could regard that as failure. The sixth form was part of the school and not carrying on into that sixth form just wasn't really an option.

For me, school finished at 18, cause I wanted to go to university. There was no option of leaving at 16.

It would be very unusual for anyone attending a SCHOOL in the UK to be older than 18.

It doesn't bother us, except for the Literotica rules, because the age of consent in the UK is 16.
