Anybody Watch the Osama Home Video?

Laurel, I love you. You're just too much of a good-hearted, fair-minded soul.

Consider yourself flamed.;)

America is based on a principle. Freedom for all. Not just the few the proud, the citizens.

We have this constitution that outlines some principles of freedom that we believe in. People died for this document and this principle. It's worth dying for. I think it's worth killing for.

We cannot call ourselves free and support the principles of liberty and equality for all, then not do it. That's hypocracy. People have willingly sacrificed their lives for these principles, more than those who died in 9-11. Vengeance is not right. It feels good and it feels like it's the thing to do for the innocent martyrs who died in the twin towers. But it's not right because it destroys the very principles that this nation was founded on, that people willinging died so that we could have, and that we enjoy.

Osama will be killed in the battlefield. I do not see any US forces or our close allies taking him alive. If some of our allies that aren't that close got a hold of him, then yes, he'll be tried. But there will be no military tribunal because there will be no Bin Laden.

The Bush Administration, and a lot of Americans, want the death penalty for Bin Laden. The only way for that to happen, should he miraculously come to trial, is through the military tribunal. Not only that, it's quick. He's tried, he's sentenced, he's executed. There is no place in America for Bin Laden to receive a fair trial. There isn't anyone who hasn't seen the twin towers fall or who hasn't been predisposed toward him. To try him in a civilian court in America would be a grave miscarriage of justice. Our laws guarantee a fair trial before an impartial jury. There is no impartial jury in this country. The just recourse is to try him in another country, possibly before a world court. America is the only industrialized nation that has the death penality. If he is tried elsewhere the severest punishment he faces is life in prison. From his jail cell he will continue his terrorist activities, just as most druglords run their empires from inside prison. Osama must die for the western world to be free from him.

He won't reach trial and if he does, the only viable option is a military tribunal if we seek the death penalty.

But our laws, moreover the very things this country is supposed to stand for is not reserved for just Americans. It's something that belongs to everyone.

Perceptive is the word I'd use; clear thinking is the phrase...
