Okay some of you may already know this. But I'm moving this January. And I'm moving from Denmark to America.

Now. I've pretty much gotten everything under control, and basically just need to get my ass on the plane.
BUT, as far as I know, I'm gonna need a car. Just some beat up piece of shit, that can take me from A to B. Preferably with working brakes :)

Now I've never, obviously, bought a used car in America.
So any advise you Americans have for little me would help :)

Or better yet, anybody have a used car that still runs..occasionally, for sale???

Xander sweetie if I did it would be yours for the taking. I am foggy brained today, were are you moving to? I have probably read it before but cannot recall it right now.

I can only offer you this advice.

DO NOT buy a Sunfire. My dad and I bought one (used) for my little brother. It turned out to be the biggest lemon I have ever seen. A little research (hindsight being 20/20) has shown me that it is a common traight with the freakin' things.

Sparky has some seriously used auto's that he wants to get rid of to finance a new purchase.

C'mon down to Sparkies Auto Emporium! DEALS!!!DEALS!!!DEALS!!!

Julia, I'm moving to Michigan.

Expertise okay I'll scratch sunfire from the list :)

Michegan?? You may perhaps want to invest in an SUV, they are in the snow belt afterall, or a car which is frontwheel drive. I'd sell you my SUV, but here in NY we get lots of snow too and its not ready for my retiring of it yet. You can always go to one of the many car websites, all you have to do is put in what type of car you are looking for, the price range, area, color, "extras" you want in it, etc. Just a thought, good luck in your search, and good luck on your move.

P.S. I enjoy your music very much and I thought your website was pretty cool.

Well I was thinking a 4w4 or something. Though I have owned a RWD here in Denmark it's not something I like to drive in wintertime. FWD or 4W4 all the way.

And thanks for the website remark :)

Have I gotta deal for you!

Xander baby...c'mon down to ole Thumper's preowned cream puff extravaganza!

Actually I have three....

1. A 1988 Plymouth Sundance. Was my daughter's car until she got her settlement money...now she drives a newer and nicer car than her parents..Only in America God love her!
$800.00

2. A 1993 Chevy Cavalier. My car it has been hit in the drivers side but it doesn't affect anything. great running car. $2800.00 as is or I'll have it fixed(the body) and sell it for $4000.00

3. A 1994 Dodge Spirit my wife's car. We are going to sell it to get a Blazer or something that will actually hold two teenage boys and all there crap. She only drives it to and from work. Strange how the woman can go from 0 to 75 and back to 0 between stop signs LOL Has had 43 brake jobs in 5 years. $4500.00

Plus an 84 Camaro up on blocks in Kentucky...nothing wrong with it, it is just a state law requiring they be stored that way...

just kidding about the Camaro...;)

Actually Thumper. That Plymouth Sundance sounds pretty good.
And 800$ is just inside my price range. I'll get back to you on that one :)

There is no chance in hell I can afford the two others. Though that Dodge sounds great.

No car for you, X, but if you ever get the mind to travel in whatever vehicle you find, I'm just across the lake in WI.

Fichigan, Muck Fichigan

Sorry Xander, just a college football thing..When is Ohio St. going to beat Michigan, must be some kind of voodoo hex!

Back to the question at hand, I would suggest either an old Toyota or Honda. They seem to have the best reliability records and are both front wheel drive.

At any rate, welcome to the U.S. and good luck!

Now VLAD!! I'm From OHIO too!!! AND IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! DONKEY DICK!!!!!!!!!!!
AND THE FOOTBALL TEAMS CAN SUCK MY DICK IF I HAD ONE!!!

Its ok this has to be one of those few years where I am not proud to be a Penn State fan!! What is Joe Pa up to lately?

Xander, I don't know about America, but in Australia, if you want a cheap car, the best place to get one is at auction. My car was a reposetion, and it ended up being valued at close to double what I payed for it (But I did get a great deal). But there was one car there that went for $550 and I swear to got was worth $1500 - A Camery, and it ran well.

So if you can find an Auction in the States, get along and have a look. You might get a bargain. :)

:) Did I miss a thread somewhere along the way? Is there a job for you in Michigan?
I'm also just across the lake- welcome to the Mid-west!
