Up til about 3 weeks ago, I was getting a couple calls at the noon hour and a couple calls early evening....every weekday...and there's been zilch lately. I mean none. Nothing on the answering machine, either.

I lost my temper (remained calm but let it fly with no cuss words) with a MCI caller one day...told them in no uncertain terms to take my name and number off the list. In 30 minutes another MCI caller called and I again ranted to them one more time. A couple days later I got a letter from some agency or other (didn't keep it 'cause I didn't believe it) that said there'd be no further calls..............Well, hello?? There hasn't been!

anybody else had similar success?

i still get 20-30 a day

Damn, EE..........that's a load! How do you get anything done besides answering the phone?

Get in their face...but don't cuss'em! There's getting to be some political pressure applied to the telemarketer industry anyway so maybe they'll agree to go quietly when "asked" rather than risk these don't call "lists" get going.

Good luck.

I'm on-line so they can't get to me.

I got a letter the other day, them wanting to discuss matters with me. I hate bankers. I'll tell them if and when I needed a loan. I don't need them asking if I want a loan every fucking day is a complete turn off.

it doesnt work, I swear!!

Oh I hate the unavaliable hang ups too

Something sure worked for me, EE. I don't know what else could've happened, but there's been zero calls in at least two weeks now. Be persistant and consistant.

I just raised my voice and repeatedly told them to take my name off/take my number off!

I got two messages on my answering machine within 30 minutes of each other from two separate companies that want to lend me money and cut down my high interest credit card payments. It's kinda funny considering what I do for a living and that I have absolutely no debt except my mortgage and a year left of my Jeep.

I just refinanced my mortgage two weeks ago which is why I think I'm getting these calls. I'm seriously considering calling them back and waste a few hours of their time.

Use what you said last night or that other Fuck you and the horse you rode in on. Then demand they take you off their calling list. Works for me :)

No wait - I reread your post again

Didn't you notice that, by nature, the telemarketer approach is a "shotgun" rather than a rifle shot in the first place??

Pssst! that "star 69" last number re-call doesn't work. What?! Do you think THEY are stupid? ;o)

Stupid enough to leave me a number to call them (or someone else who works there) back.

Yah, but EL..it's just not worth YOUR time to call them back.

Good luck.

When I did telamarketing.. I would often get people like that. Sometimes I would memorize their numbers and write them on bathroom stalls at truck stops and public bathroms. Once I took out a personals ad. Oh, I would take their names off of the list too if they demanded or requested it. If they just hung up.. Whelp.. they were gonna get another call.

I had a lady lecture me one time for calling on a Sunday. I calmy asked her when me and my children could move in so she could support us. She shut up quick. Politely asked me to take her off of our noncomputerized hand written list. Which I did.

I had a guy once to tell me to go to hell. I said to him. wouldn't you feel badly if I got into an accident on my way home. He hung up. Called back 30 minutes later to apologize to me. Didn't asked to be removed nor did I take it off.

To keep off of these list. Do not participate in the Census. Don't sign up for anyhting in the mall. Don't fill out visitor card when you go to any companies. Make sure all your friends understand that if they "refer" you to a company they buy something from they will die a painful death. Make sure your number is unlisted and unpublished. Get placed on the state DNC list. Buy one of those phone blockers for the machines that dial random numbers.Oh and get call rejection for anon callers. *67 is a telemarketerd favorite code.

Actually to call them back and request to be taken off of their list is worth the time IMO if you don't want them to call back.

I really gotta get the balls to try to have phone sek with a female telemarketer...lol
I usually don't even answer the phone when the caller ID comes up Unavailable.

I subscribe to a service that puts my phone number on a list of people not to call. I haven't had a call since October.
