I visited several in the San Francisco area and love one of them very much. If I still lived in the area I would go back oftenfljim0121 said:Well, has anybody ever been to a bathhouse?
What was it like? Would you go again? And were the guys cute or creepy?
I'm thinking of going just to see what the experience is like - that and it's been a while for me too.![]()

I've also been in bathhouses in Chicago, Denver, Dallas, London, Paris, and Amsterdam. The last three being the most recent -- almost 4 years ago. (There may have been a few other cities, but I can't think of them right now.)
The bathhouse experience IS very intoxicating, but even if I were single again I personally would try to avoid them. Though I enjoyed them at the moments I was there, afterwards it wasn't that great. To make an analogy, imagine the most wonderful buffet with all different kinds of food you can imagine that run the gamut: delicious, good, ok, and not so good. Then imagine, you stay there and eat, and eat, and eat. Hours later you finally leave, but by then the last thing you want is more food. You can't even raise your fork anymore.
Nevertheless, if YOUR goal is a kind of all-you-can eat buffet of sex, a bathhouse experience is the closest you'll ever get. Just know that it is very addictive for some people to the point that their life revolves waiting for the next visit.
Finally, know that though most of them even give you condoms when you check-in. However, a good amount of unsafe sex still goes on in bathhouses and as the number of partners goes up so goes your risks for catching something. I've only had an STD twice in my life (both in 1981), and both times were after a bathhouse trip. (You can also get crabs there, but most bathhouses are good about keeping the rooms disinfected after someone checks out.)
I've been an exclusive top since 1985, but even before that I seldom did anything but top as that is about the only thing I enjoyed with another guy. I assume that it was that along with luck that kept me from getting HIV. It sure wasn't from lack of partners as they were in the hundreds and wearing condoms was always sporatic. So if you go, make sure you are completely in control of yourself ( meaning sober, and not high on something), establish your boundries for safe sex, and stick to them.
Best of luck whatever you decide.

It's to bad there aren't places like that for Bi's. That would be the ultimate for me and a special wench.
So, I'm intrigued. I really want to try a bathhouse on my next business trip. As a curious guy keen to explore it sounds like the right thing. But can anyone give me an indication whtether it'd be ok to just do something like handjobs or watch on a first visit?
