Other than Grassroots & Snippettsville, whatever they are, there doesn’t seem to be any independent story critiquing being done here.

I would love to learn that I am wrong, so anyone correcting my faulty understanding, would be appreciated.

Thanks for your attention.

VB--

If you want a "no strongs attached" kind of critiqueing arrangement, that's what the Story Feedback forum is for. The "Grassroots" discussions take place for stories by authors who have taken the time to critique at least two other stories before them. You are more than welcome to join in the "grassroots" discussion and have your story critiqued. The only criteria are that:

1.) You sign up in this thread:

Discussion: Feedback and Review of stories...

2.) You write at least two critiques of stories that have been previously offered for discussion.

Critiques should be balanced, and they don't have to be especially long. They should include both things you liked about the story, and things you thought could use improvement. By critiquing, and being critiqued, it's amazing how much better your writing will become. The people who participate in the "grassroots" discussions really take the time to carefully evaluate the stories that are offered, both because they enjoy it, and because they hope that if and when they offer their own story for critique they will recieve the same courtesy.

Only one story is featured each week, so that there is focus. I would encourage you to sign up if you're interested. This is not an exclusive club. It's just a bunch of authors who really want to write better stories. All authors who are genuinely looking to improve their writing are welcome.

VB,

I second that wholeheartedly.

The term Grassroots is applied because the official moderator of this Forum is absent at the moment.

So for now, it's the kids running the store by themselves. :D

Welcome

Hi Virtual,
I'm not sure what you mean by 'independent ...critiquing".

The 'grassroots' people are not under anyone's whip!

"Grassroots" in fact is some of the same people that critiqued stories before, when there was an active moderator.

Look at the critiquing that's happening, and if you want to take part, why not post one.

(Of course critique make be solicited anywhere, including 'story feedback,' 'authors hangout' and even the 'general board.' Ya takes what ya get.)

Assuming you want to take part here, we would be delighted to look at your story very soon, i.e., sometime this Aug. "Register" or sign into the sticky thread marked "Discussion: Feedback."

Best,

J.

That answers my question.

I was not looking for (independent ) story critiquing, I was looking for (independent story) critiquing, as opposed to (Snippettville Story) critiquing.

Now I know Grassroots is nothing like Snippettville.

I shall begin trying to offer useful commentary -- if I am able -- to stories posted by others, until I am permitted to post "Suggestible Susie."

Hi Virtual.
Welcome. It needn't be a long process. We simply ask that you spend a couple weeks writing in an Afghanistan cave. (joke)

Take an hour, read a story, post feedback to its thread. (Repeat).

The Snippetsville groups, afaik, are a group who individually write very short stories about an small town (of that name) whose layout and characters are agreed upon by the group: its happenings and characters. Some are fine writers. It's housed within the Circle.

The (main, original) Circle itself was set up to provide writers with feedback, on a 'swap' basis, almost any category or length within reason (no whole novels). Those giving the feedback are often, experienced writers (although they are only a subset of all the fine and experienced writers of literotica.)
