I've always loved the outdoors, but so far my quest for finding a woman who likes the same has been less than fruitful. So if there are any women who like things like backpacking, camping, rock climbing, fishing, etc., I'd love to talk to ya. Maybe someday I can fulfill my fantasy of making love under the stars in the rockies...

and just what part of the rockies are we talking here?

and do i get to bring the artic sleeping bag?

any part of the rockies, really. and ya don't need an arctic sleeping bag. there are plenty of other ways to keep warm... ;)

I think its hard to find anyone who really loves being outdoors! Here, my friends think camping is in an RV, just for starts. I grew up camping and hiking... still love it, but finding someone to go with is another story!

P.S. I love watching hockey too ;) The only sport I watch willingly, lol

well hey, anyone who's a hockey fan is all right in my book. :)

I grew up in the outdoors as well. So far my mom's the only woman i've ever met who was a true outdoors person. She even cleaned her own fish. And I'm with you, I'm not a big fan of the RV with a tv and the works. I figure what's the point, why not just stay home and at least have a couch too. But that's just my opinion. I prefer backpacking trips myself. My buddy and I backpacked across the Grand Canyon and various other places out west last year. Best trip of my life. And I see your from Oregon, which happens to be very high on my list of places i want to visit next. I hear its beautiful up there.

Yeah, I recently migrated to Oregon from the midwest. In many ways I do love it here. I actually live in the high altitude desert area of the state (yes, hard to believe, I know) right by the Blue Mountains (more like large hills, lol), which is beautiful in its own right. And only a day's drive from the Oregon coast (something that shouldn't be missed), the volcanoes, Hell's Canyon, or Yellowstone area. Not too bad, I suppose! A better view than the flatlands I grew up with, and no humidity even. Though I do miss the sights and smells of fall.

I can't say I do the fish thing, but that's mostly because I just don't like seafood. :) But I don't mind any other aspect of roughing it! I've only just gotten into backpacking, but I hope to do it more in the future as I continue to get into better shape. Again, there's finding another person to go with too, lol. Luckily I can drag a friend hiking in the nearby mountain trails, but only everyonce in a while. I haven't made it out to the Grand Canyon, yet. I have such a long list of places I want to see!

You'll have to let me know if you're ever in the area! I have summers off, sort of... :)

Outdoors is fine, but what's wrong with coming in from the wilds to a hot shower and a warm comfortable bed. Can't you just use those little stars ya stick on the ceiling?? :)

LOL, I do have to admit this summer that after 6 days of washing my clothes and bathing in the nearest frigid river or lake that the shower when I returned was probably the most pleasurable ever. :) But, nothing beats the feeling of lying under *real* stars in the peaceful quiet of nature or in front of a crackling campfire.

Amen to that !!!

I do a lot of camping with the scouts and while everyone else is in the cabin I am always outside. I would much rather see the stars, hear the animals and listen to the wind blow through the pines........

I have to admit though, after cmaping in the rain over the weekend my king size bed sure felt good :)

How do you cope with killer misquotes, bears that want to eat your face off, and hard, lumpy, cold dirt floor under you?

Honestly, if you want to see the stars, lean back in a cushioned high back chair at the planetarium and looked at the heavens. I have hiked the rim at the Grand Canyon and tried Angel Trail (or at least until my toes were permanently stuck in the front of my boots!), splashed down a mountain stream (about 50 degrees cold – took my breath away), and sat on top in Colorado—but I still say you can’t beat a thick white cotton comforter and room service.

So why do you want to drag a girl into the wilds—cheap date?

I guess if you would have to drag someone, that would defeat the whole purpose of the serenity and romance. Yes, romance. Oh sure, its not spending a lot of money for overrated food to sit in bed and watch TV or just spend time in the bedroom having sex or whatever. Or watching a movie on the ceiling of some building. But some of us to appreciate the romance that the world around us has to offer without what many have come to expect as necessary frills. I have a bedroom. I cook some damn good meals. But I sleep in that bed and eat that food nearly every day. Sometimes I like to escape to where there is no work, no bills, no noisy cars. I grew up in a small suburb of Chicago. I love the culture that a city can offer, but I love the open skies where you can see more stars in a far greater sense than you could ever capture in a planetarium. As for the mosquitoes, it depends on where you go and when... Around here its not much of an issue. As for the bears, generally its not something to worry about. The cold lumpy ground? Well, sure, there are nights when that's not so fun, but most of the time I don't even notice!

I am surprised that, having done the things you said, you cannot appreciate the wonder of the outdoors, unless I suppose you were the one "dragged" along... It is not for everyone, and that's OK. Leaves more room and quiet for those of us whose souls crave it, for whom it is an almost innate desire, not to get too poetic.

OK, I'll step off my soapbox now.

Plesmone, I don't think any less of you for your lack of passion for the outdoors, so please don't take this personally. :) Most of my friends feel the same way as you do. I appreciate the comforts of everyday life, but just sometimes that's not enough.... Or I guess you could say too much. :)

P.S. Cheap date? Have you ever bought gear? lol

Dragged and kicking all the way while packing the powdered eggs and such.. yes, in part. I'm glad the great outdoors is there and that there are ones, like yourself, who love it. I guess it's just that I don't get it. In Sadona the government won't pave any of the roads so only 4x4's can see the beauty of the red rocks. I say, pave the roads so a tour bus can whize pass allowing great pictures by city dwelling visitors on their way back to plush hotels.

Don't mean to be harsh--when you come in from the elements, I'll have nice room and a table resevered for you :)

Killer Mosquotes....Shotgun

Killer Bears......Shotgun

cold,dirt floor.............Foam pad and a special friend ;)

Actually, like deanna said they are not a problem if you know what you are doing.......

Most of the women I have met are all for a night out next to a fire underneath the stars.....

I think it all boils down to the fact that some people are city people and some people aren't. I, personally, am not. I've lived in the city for over 6 years now because of school and work, and I can never get used to the noise, the crowds, the traffic, etc. But its just a matter of perspective and personal opinion, i think. Some people like the energy and all the people in cities. I don't. I like when you're out in what's left of the wilderness and all you can hear are the crickets and the snaps and pops coming from the campfire. I like being able to sleep under the stars. I like fresh air. I like the smell of the forest on a cool morning at dawn. I like the idea of having to cuddle up with a woman to keep warm. I like everything that goes with being in the outdoors. But that's just me. And its not like i want to live in the woods or anything. I can appreciate a big warm bed and room service too; sometimes that's EXACTLY what's in order. But I also think that spending some time roughing it in not-so-ideal conditions makes you appreciate all of those things even more. And for me personally, I NEED time away from city life and civilization. I need time to relax, let myself think, and try to figure out what the hell I'm doing with my life. And the best way for me to do that is to load up my backpack, take a hike, pitch my tent, and build a campfire. That's when things start to fall into place. Just tryin to find a lady to join me.

Help----why can't ya just drag us out to the theater, dinner, and a romanic room overlooking the city?

Did you think I meant that that's all I ever wanted to do with a woman? Go camping and hiking? Because its not. I'm a huge fan of a romantic dinner (preferrably cooked myself) and a night out at the theater or orchestra. Or a night out at the movies. Or a night out bar hopping. Or a quiet night at home curled up in front of a fire. Or a picnic in the park. Or a weekend at a romantic little cottage with a hottub, spent mostly naked and eating delicious foods off of one another. These are ALL things I have done and love doing with a lady. But yes, I'd also like to find a lady I can do all those things with that would ALSO like to take off with me and go for a hike in the woods or go backpacking for a few days. Is that too much to ask? :p

Some of my favorite phrases while out in the woods:

Honey, is that 100% deet your wearing? Ummmm, I love that on you.

Before you pick up your backpack, you should know that I have the heavy stuff!!

You should have broken in those hikers before attempting a climb like this. Wow, those blisters look nasty!

If you have to go, just wade out in the stream past your waist and go!! Come on, just do it!!

Damn, looks like the tent is taking in water again!

Help----why can't ya just drag us out to the theater, dinner, and a romanic room overlooking the city?

I forgot about this picture. We were high up on the rim and I ran out of water like about 3 minuets after we started walking. Lucky for me, I was able to pursuade my guide to give me some of his water.

That's different! why didn't ya say so in the beginning? All I heard was talk about leaving everything that cries out "comfort, comfort, warm, soft...."
When you cook, what do you cook? When you eat off of your lover what do you eat? (ok, I'm sort of hungry:) )

The last meal I cooked for a woman was shrimp alfredo. Before that, I experimented with grey reef shark, but I wasn't a huge fan. It all depends on what the woman wants, what she likes. I mean, if I'm cooking for her, I'm obviously out to please HER, so I'm not going to cook something she hates. I'm obviously partial to seafood, but if she doesn't like it, I won't cook it. And not that I'm a master chef or anything, but I do enjoy cooking.

The last thing that I've eaten off of a woman's body was strawberries and whip cream. Licking wine off is always yummy too, in more ways than one. ;)

And anyways, who says you can't be out in the woods AND comfortable? I mean, if you're just camping, you can bring plenty of cushions and blankets. I have a truck, and I've thrown a mattress in the bed and brought tons of blankets and been much warmer and more comfortable than my own bed. So its possible to have it both ways. :p

Playing 'house' in the back of a pickup truck - been there and done that - and ya, that was fun. But packing all that gear and hicking until you were hot, tired, and cranky...take a look at me, do I look like I'm built for hicking???

As far as the cooking - sounds great, but I think I would settle for a couple of icecubes and a little carefully poured cognac...;)

Well, just because you go camping doesn't necessarily mean you have to go hiking and get all sweaty. There are plenty of other ways to get sweaty... ;) And I don't know what you look like, but anybody is built for hiking, as long as you have two legs. :p

But ok, you bring the ice cubes, i'll bring the cognac. ;)
