At any rate, this site is free. The authors here write as a labor of love. We don't get paid. "Commissioning" an author for pay here is considered spam at Lit.

They seem to allow it for magazines, books and such on the AH. I've also seen posts asking authors to write personalized stories for a reasonable fee, and some authors have jumped at the opportunity in the past. Maybe the AH mods don't consider it spam since there's no official rule forbidding such offerings?
