Doing a restoration/fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium to a new SSD. Used the original recovery tools that came with the computer. That worked fine, but it loaded Win 7 with no updates (as expected).

I see that MS provides Convenience Rollups of Windows Updates that is supposed to make the process easier and take less time.

I do not want Win 10. Now that the free ram-WX-down-your-throat period is over, will the Rollups include the Win10 Nags and other KBs, or will those have been removed?

It's spelled g-o-o-g-l-e.c-o-m, dumbass...

...teach yourself how to fish.

I'm intimately familiar with computer hardware (particularly Intel) and have hand-built two PC's, but am not super-proficient with software.

Put Windows 10 on. Get used to a couple of new things and in no time you will not notice the difference.

"Intimately?"

No wonder they call it hardware.

Windows 10 is not so bad. Everything is there, it's just different. You can find anything you need by searching the computer for it and it searches fast. If you upgrade, just be sure to associate your pdf file type with whatever pdf reader you use so you can fill in forms. Windows 10 defaults pdfs to their Edge browser, which I find to be idiodic.

One shouldn't have to search for anything. One should be able to go straight to what they want without having to jump through hoops.

I see it all the time. People want to search for a printer rather than going straight to the server and connecting to the printer. Their process takes 3 times as long to connect and usually fails.

This is the problem with modern operating systems. They hide everything from the user and forces them to search. People no longer have any idea where anything is so they waste time searching.

Even if they are included you should be able tp remove them after the fact.

BTW way, there's a GB tech thread.
