Any aviation folks here?

Just curious to see if there are any others involved in aviation in some way!
For close to 30 years I went to air shows back in Western NY. It was put on ( mostly) at a grass airstrip in Genesso NY. The primary featured planes from WWI-WWII. It was great because you could walk among the aircraft, talk to the pilots & crew. After a number of years they had reenact-ors there to, most various branches of all countries from WWII. They would fly the planes from 10:00-4:00 & it was a sight to be seen & heard. They would also have at least 1 flyby/demonstration by jet aircraft Took lots & lots of pics over the years 👍

That’s great! Glad to see others on here. I work in aviation and always had a fantasy of bringing my wife on a trip and having the other pilot and I share her on an overnight

I used to have a private pilot certificate, however, I haven't flown in over 20 years. Does that count? I'm still in avid aviation aficionado! If it flies, I love it.

I believe that I'm the only one in my family that loves traveling via commercial airlines. I insist on a window seat, behind the wings/engines. Love hearing the power of the engines. And also that pushback into the seat after brake release. On takeoff roll I have to fight smiling like some kind of idiot. Just awesome. But don't forget as it's also said... flying is the second thrill know to man. Landing is the first.

All landings should equal takeoffs in aviation. Unless you’re a parachutist!

I never understood parachutists. I have no fear of heights but I don't see any sense in abandoning a perfectly operational aircraft. You understand, aviators train to never have to abandon a plane. For me, I'll stick to the comfort of my butt firmly planted on the seat thank you.

Jumping from a plane with a chute is amazingly freeing. There’s a special high from the adrenaline rush that’s unlike anything else in the world.

I like flying too but it’s not the same as jumping.

Oh I'm sure that there is no doubt an amazing rush from jumping. But it's one rush that I can do without! I've always considered myself someone who has thrill issues but jumping just won't be one of them for me. It's just something about trusting aluminum and steel a little bit more than some string and material. So yes I admit that people who jump are a very much more brave/trusting than I am. But you jumpers, Don knock us aviators that don't jump. Without the pilots you wouldn't be jumping. Except for maybe base jumping.

Never knocking, handsome. Just expressing why jumping is amazing.

I’m grateful for pilots seeing as I love to travel far and wide. As I exit the plane, if the pilots around I say thank you 😁

Next time you exit a plane have some fun for yourself and just make a little jump over the threshold between the airplane and the gangway and silently say to yourself "Geronimooooo" or whatever jumpers say nowadays when they jump out of a plane. Look at it as the shortest skydive you ever made.
