Antidepressants and dysfunction.

I'm wondering that too about being able to orgasm. My problem is that I've been taking my anti-depressants since I was 17 and I only started having sex when I was 18 so I have no way to know if it's affected me or not. I think my sex drive is only affected by my energy levels (I have a few vitamin/mineral definicies which I take stuff for) but I've never had an orgasm :( I'm too scared to stop taking my medication in case I go back in to depression and anxiety, plus when I miss a dose I get really bad withdrawal.

So does anybody know of any ways to help with sex without stoping the medication?

Ignore JimboBubba. He has a tendency to obsess on how to be offensive to others.

It was my experience while on AD's that it took a while for my body to adjust to the AD. The first two months were hard to get used to because I went from extremely orgasmic to non-orgasmic. But I stuck with the AD's because the alternative was worse. I consistently worked on achieving orgasm and didn't give up and focused on my bf's pleasure. After two months, it was like I reached a plateau, and I was back to my extremely orgasmic routine. :)

PS I eventually stopped taking the AD's, gradually, not cold turkey. When doing this it's important to have a good MD and support system.

Okay, I haven't read any of the responses to this thread, but it might be a good idea for him to try low doses of an SSRI + Buspar.

I used to have sexual side effects from the SSRI class - mainly, I couldn't reach orgasm. I never had ED from them. However, I told my doctor and he put me on low dose Prozac + Buspar and it's helping a lot with no sexual side effects.

Buspar is a partial SSRI but it has a dual mechanism. A lot of people say it doesn't work, but I like it because when added to the Prozac, it seems to work just fine... and with no side effects.

So that might be an option - Low dose SSRI + Buspar.
