First a bit of background: In the 70's the UK was known as the sick man of Europe. Our economy was crippled by the actions of the unions which demanded and got more and more outrageuos concessions. Now the joke...

A large group of workers were standing outside the factory gates listening to their Trade Union leader explain the latest victory.

"And brothers", said the leader "we have won a 30% pay rise".
Loud cheer from the crowd.
"Back dated to April last year".
Bigger cheer from the crowd.
"And we have won an extra two weeks vacation a year".
Cries of "right on", "yayy way to go", from the crowd.
"And we've won two hour lunch breaks".
The crowd goes wild.
"And finally...and finally...we only have to come to work on Wednesdays...".
The crowd grows quiet and a voice at the back pipes up...
"What? every Wednesday?"...
