Though I am a sexual conservative on most issues, I feel that prostitution is one rare area where society would benefit from a permissive approach. In fact, prostitution was long accepted as necessary evil in western society and it was liberals and "progressives" that worked to ban it in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In many traditional Catholic countries its always been legal. Men need sexual outlets and as many wives and girlfriends refuse to have sex with their partners, not to mention the ugly or repellant men who can't find a partner, prostitution serves a potential service to the greater good of society. So, my support for legalizing the activity is NOT based on permissive, libertine, or libertarian beliefs, but more of a traditional sense of utilitarian right and wrong.

That said, what is interesting is that in fact just the opposite has happened over the past four decades. While EVERY other sexual behavior that was traditionally considered immoral or illegal has been legalized and legitimized, prostitution remains the only one that has not. One can only scratch one's head and ask why? The obvious conclusion, so obvious in fact nobody's sees it, has to be anti-male sexism. The vast majority of prostitution has always been from men paying women for sexual activity. Since the feminist movement took over western society in the 1970s, feminazi's have had near total control over all facets of life in the west. One of their key goals was (and is) to make men subordinate to and dependent upon women. One aspect of this is to take any control of sex away from men and give all control over it to women.

Since the vast majority of prostitution is and has always been men paying women for sexual activity, keeping it banned permits women to hold all the cards when it comes to sex and thus ultimate power in relationships and in society as a whole. To legalize (or decriminalize, I'm not going to get into haggling over words here) would allow men to say "screw you" to their wives and girlfriends when they try to use sex as a tool to dominate the relationship and shift the balance of power away from the women. Also, the price of prostitution would likely come down to market levels and allow even the low income man a shot to participate, thus further shifting societal power balances that now favor women.

... as many wives and girlfriends refuse to have sex with their partners
... anti-male sexism

i'm seeing a trend here.

It am going to try to deconstruct some of the truly stupid arguements you put forth here and shine a ray of reality upon them

my comments will be in the bold print

This is simply not true, and a basic knowledge of politics, morality, and medicine would show you that.

Have you ever heard of Victorian England..there were multiple harsh laws forbidding prostitution..yet noblemen were encouraged to indulge in it privately

Morality brigades in the early 20th century were on the charge against it, and the dangers of gambling and drinking as well...these were not progressive or liberal groups

In fact, I would like you to cite on example of liberals and progressives working to ban it all during those periods you mentioned

In many traditional Catholic countries its always been legal.l

Also complete hogwash.. the Catholic see strictly forbids it. Simple fact checking will suffice

If you're thinking the Netherlands ( aka Amsterdam) they are predominantly Lutheran and Proestant..not Catholic

Men need sexual outlets and as many wives and girlfriends refuse to have sex with their partners

And vice versa..or do you believe women shouldnt have a choice when it comes to sex?

, not to mention the ugly or repellant men who can't find a partner, prostitution serves a potential service to the greater good of society. So, my support for legalizing the activity is NOT based on permissive, libertine, or libertarian beliefs, but more of a traditional sense of utilitarian right and wrong.

Words simply cannot express the stupid..truly

Feminism took over western society? Really?

That explains how there hasnt been a single female president despite 51% of the population being female?

That explains how one in four women 18 -24 will be subjected to some sort of sexual assualt?

Women werent allowed into the military till the late 70's..and not allowed onto naval vessels till the 80's...thats near total control?

One of their key goals was (and is) to make men subordinate to and dependent upon women. One aspect of this is to take any control of sex away from men and give all control over it to women.

Once again..do you believe its wrong that women be given any choice when it comes to having sex?

Men dependent on women? Oh please

A woman gets pregnant and becomes financially dependent on the male..how is that taking control?

Or is this because women can legally have abortons now? Or that women can utilize birth control now?

It seems less of men being dominated..and more of men not being able to completely dominate a womans sexuality that you seem so threatened by.

[/B]Since the vast majority of prostitution is and has always been men paying women for sexual activity, keeping it banned permits women to hold all the cards when it comes to sex and thus ultimate power in relationships and in society as a whole.

Once again, you are threatened by women now having ownership of their own bodies

To legalize (or decriminalize, I'm not going to get into haggling over words here) would allow men to say "screw you" to their wives and girlfriends when they try to use sex as a tool to dominate the relationship and shift the balance of power away from the women.

But you've already shown you dont want women having any choice or equality in a sexual relationship..why quibble now?

Also, the price of prostitution would likely come down to market levels and allow even the low income man a shot to participate, thus further shifting societal power balances that now favor women.

Let me know when you get Earth..things are alot different here

a misogynist and an idiot..how quaint

Abortion
Gay marriage
Multiple marriage
Drug use
Prostitution
Adult incest

I see none of these as being any business of the government.

The OP has made threads condemning Lesbians (and other gays), Bisexuals (primarily bisexual women) and now laws against prostitution.

Is it possible, he's just a horny guy who cannot get laid no matter how hard he tries?

why does renard never return to these threads?

What is there to return to, once you state truth its time to move on to other issues or rewrite a new article. There is no counter argument to the points raised, so why go back to it. Though I'm happy to if others wish.

Just read yesterday about Sweden trying to make purchasing services from a prostitute punishable by more than the current one year in prison. That's right, liberal feminist Sweden have made it a serious crime for a man to purchase the services of a prostitute, while absolving the prostitute of ANY criminal wrongdoing. Now, that's not enough, they want to make it more than the current one year in PRISON for the MAN only (not the hooker).

I fear this is a coming trend throughout the west, rather than liberalization. I will be writing on this issue in the future some more.

But you didn't state "truth".. several people counteracted your opinion with something called " facts"

but also in your little tirade against sweden, you forget to mention to mention that only purchasing sex services is illegal; not selling them

this was not done on the base of women exerting power over men... but due to old laws which were more flexible concerning same sex prostitution...it now is a blanket law

if you are going to get upset, get upset that men can't buy sex from other men in sweden anymore

you once again, didnt think this through
