Anthology Petition

There is a story here on Lit, by AH regular that really deserves to be in the anthology books. The problem? The author doesn't feel she's good enough and won't submit the story.

So help me out here. Give sincerly_helene's A Comprimising Position a read and post your encouragements here.

And if you know another deserving, but hesitant author (other than yourself) post it here and we'll lend you a hand too.

Well, it isn't my cup of tea. that said, I'd have no trouble reccomending it for inclusion. It's well written and engageing.

Not the usual story I read but it does indeed belong in the book.

sincerely_helene? I hate that bitch! Her writing is too contrived.

Dranoel, I really appreciate your encouragement, it's quite flattering. The reason I don't feel it belongs is because it was only the second short story I had ever written, thus I see so many flaws that it is an embarassment to me now.

There are many talented authors here that have worked much harder and longer, and it would make me feel really self conscious to be placed amoung them. I would love to participate in the future, though, as I continue to evolve as a writer.

Thanks again, you!

It's called editing! As in, 'it's never too late to do some - - - - '.

Actually, the original kicked butt on the result. This was a severe case of over-editing. I like to blame OCD. :D

I have never been comfortable with placing control of my writing in someone elses hands, because I don't feel like it's mine anymore. Also, I have learned that editing can be quite subjective, meaning someone will always find flaws in whatever you do no matter how many times it gets tossed around.

It's very hard not to be biased when your taste and writing style lies elsewhere.

I feel the same way -- but I also recognize that other eyes catch things I sometimes miss.

If you'd be willing to submit this one (which I think would be a good fit given both its length and its variety), I'd be happy to give it a go-over in Word with changes tracked. You could accept or reject them as desired. No hard feelings. :rose:

Well written, a good story. It has my vote. You should submit it.

I think it's time for a chant:

SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!!

SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!!SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!!SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!!SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!!SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!!SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!!SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!! SUBMIT!!!

I've only read part of this so far, but what I did read screams for submission :D, please consider it?

Thanks again for all the support, guys. I initially didn't realize this was for a cause as important as Free Speech, so have decided to take Imp up on her kind offer of editing the grammar and punctuation. If it is still welcome after that, would be quite willing to submit it in the Anthology.

As long as the general content is allowed to remain as is, I'm happy.

It was a pleasure (seriously).

I might have to offer my editing services more often. :D
